When buying an item in the shop, you only buy it on one screen, and canceling it on another screen will delete it (even if the game already took your money)
Take item -> Pay for it in one screen -> Cancel it on another screen

Happened once, the only time I did it, which was when I lost a 1000 cost chest rig, and had to buy a new one.
