I don't have open xr toolkit. I don't have Liv or any plugins installed. 3090. I7 10th gen. The game is just shaking like crazy. I've tried VD in steam vr and vdxr runtime. I've tried steam link. Airlink works, although. I can't get sound to work. Plus I don't even consider airlink an option. Quality is so bad. Anyone come up with any other ideas to fix this?

Getting this too, intermittently, although it does go away if I lower my graphics settings to all low
I've had a little bit of this, but only occasionally in the UNPSC outpost. I suspect its just an optimisation issue.
yeah somehow my friend is running pretty much the exact same setup as me and having no problems in VD. Im going to reformat today probably. Might have some leftovers of something. Comp needs a wipe anyways
Im having the same issues. Ive tried launching straight from oculus and making oculus my active for openxr and the stuttering is either bad or worse
Seems to be a pretty widespread issue
I have not experienced this personally, hope you get this figured out 🙏
thanks me too. I love this game
I've noticed that the facility is probably the worst optimised location so far
this for me even happens in the main menu
this happened to me when i was streaming on discord
i think its a steam vr issue cause it happened when i streamed blade and sorcery too
Wouldn't surprise me if that were the case.
yeah wasnt streaming or anything. vr open. Other games are fine. Not having any trouble with even the original one
I havent noticed it in ITR2, but if I were to disable DirectX 12 in ITR1, I would experience that shaking. Ghosts of Tabor had the same problem very early on if I tried playing thru SteamVR and not with the Oculus OpenXR runtime.
I play on quest 2 via steam link, experienced the shaking with steamvr set as openxr runtime. Using meta air link and the Oculus openxr runtime, the game ran buttery smooth. Hopefully this is a fix for some people as it was for me.
any idea what may work for those who need a cable?
Depends. What are you running? Q2? Q3? Are you using the Meta Link dashboard or using the OculusKiller tool to skip it and go into SteamVR?
3 with cable. i can skip oculus without using steam link?!
Kinda. Its obviously not made for it and I doubt it will last since I none of the tools have been updated in ages.
Search for a program called "Oculus VR Dash Manager"
It comes with the OculusKiller tool and you can freely swap between the Official Dashboard or using OculusKiller. You can also swap what runtime you use between Oculus and SteamVR.
Just note if you use OculueKiller, you CANNOT use the Oculus runtime. The game will launch but it will be just a window on your desktop. Same thing will happen if you try to run games you downloaded thru the Meta desktop app and try to run them with the SteamVR runtime.
With OculusKiller, when you start up Quest Link, it will boot directly into SteamVR. You DO need to still have the Meta desktop app open and the Oculus SERVICE running. But it skips the official link dashboard.
ah. so no tabor and ittr. hate the oculus software sm
As I said, you can freely swap between them when you need to.
Downloading it wont lock you out of anything
ahhh missread. ill have to look at it
This is what it looks like
Swapping from one to another is made quite simple
In your case it can also help to figure out which configuration your running and what is causing the problems.
If you are using the official dashboard and the SteamVR runtime, that might be the problem. Steam does sometimes hijack the runtime and ITR2 doesnt have an option to launch under one runtime or the other. It just launches under whichever is active.
ive used -oculus and put it on oculus runtime, doesnt run well anyway
So when you start the game, SteamVR doesn't run, correct?
In the Meta desktop app under settings -> general it tells you if Meta is the current openxr runtime or not.
so what ive done is set it to run thru oculus, then oculus openxr after seeing the post of steam. both steam and oculus run but when i do the oculus openxr, i navigate thru steam rn but the game launches thru oculus
And the shaking is still present?
everything i try, stutters
Graphics drivers? nVidia or AMD?
nvidia, all drivers utd
I DID hear that recent nvidia drivers were crap for VR, but im not sure if thats the contributing factor here. Tried looking up "vr shaking in headset" on google? Its an issue that does exist in other games and might help narrow down a cause and solution.
its only an issue for ittr2
I know, but the same issue crops up elsewhere. It wont provide you the exact answer to fix this problem, but might narrow it down and provide other options to explore.
I don't see why such an issue would occur in one game but not the others if bad nvidia drivers are the problem
Stranger things, honestly. Once you elliminate the impossible, whatever's left, however improbably, must (or in this case, MAY) be the truth.
ive seen lot on the steam pages of nyone with an oculus is having this issue, some with amd so k dojbt its my card or drivers
im assuming its an oversight in optimization for oculus headsets running off of low to mid range systems
Could possibly be. I've only had some occasional issues with this and I have a Quest 2 + A high-end rig.
Definitely noticeable in the Outpost every now and again, but nowhere else
If someone with a lower-end system confirms that its worse for them, then we've got a possible explanation
i couldnt get past the area where it intoduces you to your backpack and everything. it went from stutters to around 5-10 frames/sec
i was thinking about that. i updated yesterday before i played. virtual desktop recommends a certain nvidia version whenever they put out an update. I tried to revert to the may 9th nvidia driver. It got everything all screwed up but it makes me wonder if i can get it installed correctly if that would fix it. as my buddy had not updated and his is fine
