At any range, pistol is better than melee for hitmarker. Especially since the first round of any weapon has 0 spread. Regardless of whether it's conditional or not, people will engage you when you have no ammo. Or, if they're good at movement and you're bad at aim, you'll run out of ammo in the middle of the fight. Pistol is obviously better there and it does happen. Finally, melee is better than pistol until about 2m. But from 2m to 10m or so, sniper is much more difficult to use bc movement such as sliding or jumping causes a huge change in position, and pistol is superior
