#Choosing VTX

the Mark 4 also isn't very good either, it's most likely a clone of a frame that's 5 years old already
If you're buying it from Amazon it's certainly a clone
I'd recommend a Rush Tank Mini VTX, at the lower end maybe some stuff from HGLRC, GEPRC or Flywoo
it's not worth it to cheap out on stuff like this. If you're on a limited budget, you shouldn't be building a 5"
Both will technically fit. Neither will work well
why though? Getting cheap stuff like this will just lead to headaches and trouble getting it running well
How far are u along with the build?
I am also on a very tight budget with everything. And the vtx is always the last purchase
Order one by one
If u need to budget
Dude every 5" build under $100 is bad
Like they won't last and won't be representative of FPV in general
You will have a bad experience buying cheap parts like this.
Yes you can make a 5" for like $100. But it will suck, it's not worth the money you save
I don't think gatekeeping is bad in this case. All it means is that you shouldn't be having an expensive hobby if you can't afford it right now. Save up more
It really depends. If u get everything on sale u can still get decent parts.. u just got to be really patient
you can very well get a good whoop or 2-3" micro quad for $100. But not a 5"
that's a bit more reasonable... still not great, but realistic for $100
not the 5" one
the Hoarder Sam videos mostly just pray on people who don't know better to get clicks on affiliate links
It's still not a good build
Dantos. Listen to me
I have built a 5 inch for under 150
U are gonna fuck up bad If u do it with no experience
So please listen to people who actually know what they are going on about like vitroid
That's fine. There's nothing we can do to stop you
I wish you the best of luck, but blatantly ignoring advice from multiple people who know better will make it very hard to get help when a build like that innevitably goes wrong one way or another
Buying flight controller and escs separately is terrible
I'll leave it at that
U have two routes to go down.
U either fix up one off ebay
Or u build it up from scratch slowly
Only buying when things are in sale
Can u please tell me ur soldering skill level. And which county u are from
Just search "Hoarder Sam" in this server, you'll see many people asking about the builds, and just as many people telling them not to waste money on them
U can also do that for eBay drones
I built my friend one
The drone itself was 50. And I had to replace 3 broken parts so that came out to 90
Although building from scratch usually gets u a better drone
If u are patience and bag a good eBay one. U can get something to fly
Also. The kit is expensive. Yk that right?
Charger will cost u 30
Controller will cost u 50
Headset will be another 50
And battery will be 20
British pounds that is
So ur gonna be looking at 230 odd British pounds
To get u off the ground
What controller?
And what headset?
Bro that’s darn expensive
U coulda got the pocket
?
Oh sorry
Missed that
My pocket is fine but yk, fair play
Yup, u can, but there is easy ways to stop that
U in USA?
If u crash it’s always fixable
When u first fly it fly it really darn gentle
It is very different to a tinywhoop
But the tinywhoop is good practise
I enjoy my whoop more
Less stressful
I need to know for parts
And to see if eBay is an option
Don’t buy off Ali
There is better places
If I’m gonna help u I need to know ur country
Send me ur parts list
If u have never built a drone before
U are gonna struggle
And no one is gonna help u if u are uncooperative
U already scared off like 5 people
Who are much smarter than me
Do u know how to solder?
Right well good luck
If u don’t want my help it doesn’t bother me
That vtx is crap
U will go behind a tree and get all flustered when the video cuts
I got the SpeedyBee vtx
Which works fine. I got it on sale
Just saying. I have a 5 inch right in front of me that was built on a budget
I wish u the best of luck
Can u please close the post
Yeah I’m building a 5” as well as my first drone and my math with good parts ended at around $250 for a good analog one with decent parts
Trying to make it cheaper you really sacrifice on component quality or durability
He won’t listen don’t worry bout him
I also went with a Mario 5 frame
Exactly. It’s a steal for a budget drone
That one's still not great
And I’ve never seen a picture of one broken which I definitely can’t say about other frames
Ik but what the fuck am I meant to do
It's still better than the one's OP listed though
Ur not gonna be getting onto a next build buddy
What are the other parts you’re going with?
I wish I had had someone to help me
He’s using the ones in the vid up top
What’s ur parts list?
I ended up switching to digital o4 pro since I care a lot about image quality so it came out a bit more expensive
Makes sense, saves a whole lot of pain
But pretty much standard stuff
Speedybee F4V4 stack
Mario 5 XH
iFlight XING-E Pro 2207
RadioMaster RP1 V2 2.4GHz ELRS Nano
O4 pro
If u want image quality u could go dead cat
Without the video system it ends up being around $150 so it would end up being a decent budget analog one
I’m not that big of a fan tbh
And I don’t like an expensive camera being the farthest thing forward
Yeahhh that makes perfect sense.
And the xinge pro 2306 are something to check out
They take a battering

@tawdry spindle if you like hoarder Sam he built pretty much the same system I am just with an older air unit

You could follow this but with analog and end up with a very good drone
He is actually using the v3 version of the FC stack which is like $10 cheaper but I know it had some issues with reliability and compatibility so may want to go with the V4
Finally some sense
A good way to lose a drone in a second is with a cheap VTx.
A few bucks more for something better is the right move. I started 9 years ago following a “under $100 drone build” video and sure it got me into the hobby but it failed pretty quick. It wasn’t even two weeks before I was buying all new better parts all over again to build a better quad.
I wasted $100
The second one I built with quality components lasted me a couple years before I retired it
I’m starting to think you don’t want opinions on this VTx
And good quality budget parts don’t cost that much more then the absolute cheapest
Worth it to not have your drone randomly fall out of the sky or lose connection
What products are they recommending? If they're old articles that's not really surprising
That's because it's old
This is the newer version https://rushfpv.net/products/tank-ii-ultimate-vtx
It'll likely be more in stock
Well it is but also VTx failing randomly is a real concern
The ones linked also won’t be very “clean” and your video may be rough even when signal is good. The antenna included looks like a knock off of the foxeer lollipop
Here are some recommendations
Rush tank Mini (or other rush tank VTx’s)
TBS unify pro 5G8 HV (or any TBS VTx)
RDQ Mach 3
HGLRC Zeus as well
Agreed
There are quite a few that are good options
Remember to look at multiple stores if you’re in the us look at some us ones
Ali express ships from China so shipping fees may be high and shipping time will probably be around a month
Us stores will ship to you much quicker so if you need to return anything then that’s an option
The Zeus vtx’s often come with a little dipole antenna. Not really great but if you are budgeting it will hold you off until you can upgrade to something nicer
