if you unplug the lipo, youll set it off. most beepers either have a button to disarm it or you can plug the battery in again for like 2 seconds to disarm it

other than that it should only go off if you flip the switch or failsafe

only time ive had an issue is when i dunked my quad into a pond and had to tear the thing down after it came back up to turn it off

and yknow what, that beeper that sunk in a pond years ago is still on my current 5"

With the old radios (think x9d, qx7), it will not. With the new radios, I believe there is an option for it and it depends on the radio model where the data is stored. If I had to guess, I would say it will transfer over. If not, there are other ways to transfer it.

If you are checking for smashed bearings or any similar issues, that's not how you do it, spin them through betaflight, without the prop, and listen to if it sounds smooth or if there is a bit of a rattling sound

if it's fully submerged you try to unplug it while still underwater

then you literally douse the entire thing in isopropyl cleaning up visible water

and then you inspect with whatever you can (magnifying glass, phone camera) to see if anything corroded or got visually damaged

and only then you start trying out the individual parts

that's why flying over water is a pain in the ass

especially if it isn't coated

you also are forced to be so stupidly thorough when it isn't coated

because there could be the tiniest little water droplet between just exactly the wrong pins on the MCU
