(edited) Nut that holds the motor together unscrews the same way the motor turns
gUYS SO I FIXED IT BUT THEN One of my proppellers flew off and i lost the nut, i checked which way the nut unscrews and it's the same way that the mototr is meant to spin
is this ok and i just have to tighten a lot or is this a problem
There should be two of each thread direction for the motors. There might be another that goes the wrong direction, so swap those two motors
It's normal, that's why the nuts are locknuts.
Oh never mind lol
There should be two of each thread direction for the motors.
It's not 2018...
Yeah I haven't bought motors in a while 😭
Vast majority of manufacturers gave up on having CW/CCW motors
made buying motors and nuts a nightmare
Modern motors have very strong shafts (steel or steel-titanium alloy)
and locknuts
so you can crank those suckers with anger
Nope never mind my motors are all the same thread direction so I don't know why I thought that was still a thing??
Yeah they have to go on so tight 😭
i do have axactly that written on my mototrs
what kinda ancient motors are you running 😂
my motors are readytosky RS2205 lmao
so is it fine do i just crank out my anger on those chafts
yuip
what do i do then, one of them loosened and then m proppeller flew of into the sunset(no but im now going to search for the nut in the dark lmao
you probs tried that
geh, it's been more than half a decade since I last had to think about motor thread direction vs prop direction
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
hm
ah, wait, the motors are labelled with the intended spin direction
not with the thread direction
EZ
I just woke up, can you tell?
soo anyway
yep
WHAT TF DO I DO???
sorry
its like 9 pm lol
your motors should be like this
A)
CCW CW
^
CW CCW
B)
CW CCW
^
CCW CW
are they like this either of these configurations?
It should tell you in the Motors tab what it is currently
nono
I mean PHYSICALLY
since there are two CW motors and two CCW motors
I want to sanity check which directions the motors are set up for
this wasn't flying before..
the previous post solved the radio binding xD
and we have no idea
- if it was assembled correctly
- if what BF thinks matches reality
Oh yeah you're right lol
They weren't spinning the right way, then they got updated in BF and then the nut flew off 😭
and with these motors you can't reverse them since you can't crank down the props so we need to start with the motors
CW/CCW motors are such a pain 😂
I would assume all of them need to be reversed but yeah it's good to just make sure
well
we don't know if whoever was assembling the drone didn't assemble it like this
CCW CW
^
CCW CW
in which case no amount of reversing would save our bacon 😂
Oh god
so glad I switched to steel shafts in 2019 xD
Here is the only place i was able to find both CW and CCW nuts.
https://emaxmodel.com/collections/brushless-motors/products/emax-mt2204-mt2206-brushless-motor-prop-cap-nut-cw-ccw-1pcs
not even nylocks
lol yeah they're significantly easier to deal with, assuming you crank down on them hard. I remember my first drone I got I was gifted. Had like a 90 degree fov pointed slightly down, and and old... F1 FC I wanna say. That one definitely had directioned motors lol
sold and discontinued
good lord, f1
Maybe McMaster-Carr would have 'em?
It was an... interesting drone lol
yeah maybe.
i kinda wish i never sold my anchint anchient stuff.
would be fun for the nostalgea
Did a quick search, looks like maybe not
Been there done that.
I superglued the prop back on for one more flight.
then it lived.
and lived and lived.
now it's had like 8 "final flights" on it.
still on a shelf lol.
that was me, i tried "saving my acon" by reversing but after a certain point in throttle it just cut out
so wait, the motors are on wrong?
Im resoldiering them tommorow
Also, one EU source of nuts:
https://www.rotorama.com/product/m5-matky-na-motory-cw-ccw-4ks
can i fly with the nuts?
?
because the thread is made the same way as the way that the motor spins
You need to set the motors up, in one of the two possible ways
Then you need to configure the motor directions to actually spin that way
And then you need to tell BF which way is used
Then you need to install props on to match that
yep so that what im doing
what about the nuts, cause they have a chance to unscrew when i fly right?
because the way that the motor spins is the same way that you rotate to unscrew the top nut
With the correct direction, the motor spin should automatically tighten the nut
ok so to tighten my nut i turn clockwise and to untighten i turn anticlockwise, my motor spins Anti clock wise
so should it tighten?
@novel wadi
if a motor says CW I would set it up to spin CW
yeah
that's all
but the nut
so it will tighten using this configuration
lol
I presume that if the motor says CW, its threads are set up so that it will self-tighten the nut when spun CW
oh wellp, imma go sleep and if it untightens and i lost another nut you'll see me come back here asking what to do
hopefully
