#SpeedyBee Leds not working (using mamba FC)

I ordered some speedybee leds (2812-armlight) and they aren't turning on no matter what I do inside of Betaflight. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or if they just don't work with the flight controller that I am using. All documentation I find uses the leds with the SpeedyBee FC, but the description on the product doesn't specify that it works with only one particular FC.

Help me :c

how do you have it wired up?

I have a 5v -> 5v / gnd -> gnd / led -> din

Check on the FC if it's soldered for Betaflight lights and not Mamba lights

Not sure what FC you have but look at the wiring diagram

mystic fable
#

I have a mamba F405 Mk2 V2

#

I dont really have any instructions like that

stuck mesa
#

Just checked and it uses Betaflight LED, so you're good

#

Wiring is good too, so I'm pretty sure it's in Betaflight not setup properly

mystic fable
#

Ill check it out thanks :)

Do you think these wires are shorting?

#

This is my current Led config

#

It looks right?

ehh heh 😅

#

good old 3am solders

stuck mesa
#

Unsure what this is

#

But I wouldn't trust it

mystic fable
#

Im gonna resolder it looks like

stuck mesa
#

Shorten the wire ends

#

And use some flux

mystic fable
#

should've thought about this a little more lol

#

I made it slightly better though I think

if you have vaseline that works, if you wanna do that. it’s weird but i’ve tried it and it hasn’t failed me yet

mystic fable
#

Still not the best solder job, but you can tell they’re on their own pad

#

I also soldered the wires onto the led to see if I was just having an issue with the connector

#

It still doesn’t work :(

mystic fable
#

I just tried trouble shooting the leds with the battery plugged in cause I saw JB do it that way and my drone started chirping at me and now my reaper VTX 2.5w isn't turning on...

#

uhhh

outer basin
#

is the vtx also on the 5v rail?

#

i doubt it but it might be a short somewhere along the line

outer basin
mystic fable
#

it was on a 9v line

#

it got really hot

#

I had it plugged for like 7-10min while I was troubleshooting on betaflight

outer basin
#

yikes, do you know if it was in pit mode? or at least 25 mw? even still 7-10 mins is a while but it shouldn’t have killed it

mystic fable
#

it wasn't on pit

#

it was on 1w or more I think

#

2.5w

#

fuck

outer basin
#

do you have another power supply to test it with? i recommend removing it to confirm it’s dead and also prevent any more damage. it might be shorting out your 9v power rail.

mystic fable
#

I have a second drone I can solder it to

#

might take a bit

#

feeling a little bummed

#

my status light is still green on the FC

#

for 9v

outer basin
#

that’s good then

#

but damn, those 2 watt vtxs are a pretty penny

#

it’s odd that it just died

mystic fable
#

I'd like to think its my bad solder job

#

It was always working fine in the past, I dont know why it would stop

#

but I'll redo it

#

ITS ON

#

I was on the verge of just laying on the floor and submitting lol

#

Ok lesson learned

#

low watt and pit mode

#

I can’t tell if it’s heating up faster

#

It’s also taking a few more seconds for it to turn on

#

Do you think its damaged at all?

outer basin
#

maybe but it’s hard to tell honestly. i mean if it works most likely damage is minimal but ay, lesson learned lmao

#

sometimes these vtx’s have built in safeties so if they overheat they stop working

mystic fable
#

I'll find out when I fly tomorrow, without leds probably haha

#

I set it to 25mw and it heats way less fast

#

gonna keep it on that or pit when I work on the bench for now on

#

was scary

outer basin
#

it is what it is, at least it still works lol
