Here is a good illustration of what pieces are in a drone and what they do
Take a read through this

wdym by mini?
mini in the sense i meant the size
Fpv right?
So yeah for parts use this and get like a 65 or 75mm frame from a mobula 7 or 6 for example
thanks, but I was expecting like the size of the drone should be small and it should be playable stuff for kids

I’d look into the https://discord.com/channels/536623076796923924/1144567226670788639 channel
And get everything that’s not the drone
And if u want cheaper just buy the drones listed but if u have more money then u can build
Firstly, "miniquad" was a term used in the early FPV stages (like 2014ish) to indicate what is now usually called a 5" freestyle quad. Those are absolutely not something you set a child free with unless you want battery explosions/house burning down or severe injury by prop strike. They can be safe, but they're definitely not toys.
Nowadays, the meaning of "mini" is far smaller, usually called "tinywhoops" (or just "whoops"). Those are pretty safe under supervision, but understand that these still require knowledge to get up and running, and flying FPV drones takes lots of practice. Some good examples are the Mobula6 and 7.
So far, I've been talking about hobby-level drones with FPV (first person view). The setup for these is around $350 USD.
If you want something ready out of the box though, you'll probably be looking for whatever cheap drone you can find on amazon. These almost never have FPV and they don't perform nearly like hobby drones do, but they used brushed motors which are weaker and wear out faster, so they are usually less dangerous to get hit by. Not completely safe, but safer than hobby drones.
This seems like a clickbaity DIY kit, not usually a good option. Either you want to put the work in to build an FPV drone, or you buy a prebuilt toy one for cheap. You'll have to let us know what kind of budget and needs you have for drones.
Depends, the things u r suggesting r more like self stabilised. How old is the kid? Beta fpv are great! The bubito from rotor riot is also great, and this cinewhoop is very cool, but they will all need simulator practise. Ask for the other parts, the things I listed above will probs set u back £150-£200 for everything u need to fly! https://rotorriot.com/products/bubito_diy_build_kit?_pos=5&_sid=c44eec39e&_ss=r. https://. This is the cinewhoop, with a downwind you can get 50mph but steady flight is 40mph on max throttle. Very good for the price https:// https://www.getfpv.com/happymodel-cine8-85mm-brushless-cinewhoop-diy-kit-w-caddx-ant-nano-fpv-camera.html These are pre built so no need to build but I would very much recommend building. https://www.amazon.co.uk/BETAFPV-Altitude-Self-Protection-Simulator-Beginners/dp/B0BL6S25LX/ref=asc_df_B0BL6S25LX?tag=bingshoppinga-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80745519068066&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=m&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584345038293753&psc=1. https://emax-usa.com/collections/hot-products/products/ez-pilot-pro-ready-to-fly-fpv-drone-w-controller-goggles
BubbyFPV designed this micro-class drone as one of the smallest drones on the market. The Bubito is the ultimate indoor ripper, perfect for practicing freestyle in tight indoor spaces.
The CINE8 85mm Cinewhoop DIY Kit by Happymodel is a very easy to build kit made up of quality components - perfect to learn all about FPV!
The automatic calibration performed by the quadcopter makes it very convenient and easy to start flying. It ensures stability during every flight. You just need to lay it flat and turn it on to activate calibration mode (connect battery). Two speed modes New to FPV Quadcopters? For beginners, it ...

Can’t do fpv but sure if u want
Basically it will drift a bunch, and will be impossible to control but still really fun
What u need to do to build one is just plug in motors and the controller and flight controller will be pre bound (automatically work) then just use lolly sticks
I just want to know about the controller
Buy one of amozan that comes with a controller
Worst possible suggestions ever
Shh I have 2 of them, best ever purchases 🤣🤣🤣
Yep, pcb way is good, but it is really hard
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Assembly-Controlled-Quadcopter-Aircraft-Educational/dp/B08SWKGF33/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=DIY+Drone&qid=1695753453&sr=8-5 this kinda thing
Can we buy the controller separately
Yeah, u need to check the protocol though
Find a controller and a drone u wanna build and send it here
This
Yeah but they don’t wanna build something fpv I think, like the amozan thing. Much easier it’ll save u 2 pounds of the 30 not getting a kit
Send link
@gleaming bobcat can you like help
ye but it wont last
@plain phoenix Yeah I know, I would recommend getting a job and saving like I did, but I used to want this, but yes the drone will last about a week before u need to replace parts (from my experience with this but idk)
https://robocraze.com/products/dm002-wifi-fpv-rc-diy-quadcopter-kit-1 this one comes with camera, will stream live to phone, won’t be able to do fpv probably, both versions come with transmitter (controller)

👍
Don’t build that one but they both look good!
The things what I'm sharing is based upon kids perspective
Yep, I’m a kid to
Kid in the sense like grade 5-7
Haha 😂 1 year ago I was in ur situation exactly
Drones are so cool, but yeah I did go through the toy drones, I reckon building the one will be fun and teach u stuff
Maybe when ur older and get a job u can build a more expensive one
But it’s really cool u in to the hobby
Lol I'm already in job
no?
Damn
Cool, go for the one u want
🤣. I mean 5 inches are still toys
I'm not making this for my personal purpose
What r u making it for?
Goal is kids need to learn
Ohhhh ok gotcha sorry
So it should be plug and play stuff
Get this then!
Not focusing on camera
One with pout camera sorry
Just make sure you put something around the propellers otherwise it’ll be over quickly
Guard you mean
Yep
?
Okay
honestly id recommend something like this... doesnt sound like they are looking for a fpv drone and considering its for a kid this would probably be a solid cheap option.
Tbh all the ones u guys sent are cheap toys and if you want the cheapest fpv setup that isn’t trash just look at https://discord.com/channels/536623076796923924/1144567226670788639
If the goal is learning, then building something like a toothpick or tinywhoop might be a good build. Relatively simple but still teaches you about the different components, it flies well, lasts far longer, safer than a 5", and is near indestructible.
"[blood warning]" caused by 5". FPV is safe (zero deaths), but not a toy.
prop guards have their place, but there isn't much they do for a high speed drone, for the same reason that there aren't airbags in many semi trucks
Kits, on the other hand, are very expensive for what they include, and you won't learn much from them
