#What steps do i need to take to fix this?
180 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I followed a tutorial when soldering, so i'm almost certain I have it wired correctly but I can open my drone up to show
vtx
Can you send its manual to me pls?
That's definitely wrong
I need the FC manual, sorry
And I need a bat to hit the person who made the labels on the FC
I'm pretty sure thats it. i don't have anything physical paperwork wise. i just pulled name of the fc from getfpvs post and searched manual
According to the manual, S/A on the FC is TX5 in drone building terms.
Also - S/A should be wired to S/A
Just double check that pls
Once that's clear, go into BF Configurator
In there, go to Ports tab
Find UART5 row, and in the Peripherals column, select VTX SmartAudio
Then press save
Then go to Video Transmitter tab
There, use the Load From File button to load this file:
And then press save
Then you should be able to configure the vtx in video transmitter tab
ok. i'm following a lot of this but I am still a noob here so to be clear. I have the wiring wrong?
Idk, I'm asking you to re-check
You'd have to send a pic in which I can see the labels side of the vtx
For me to be able to tell
oh u mean the opposite side of the bord??
I need to see the labels for the pads
if there are labels on the other side, that's the side that I need to see
looks correct to me
ok sorry for the confusion. I appriciate the help here
GND (black) to GND, PWR (red) to VBATT, S/A (white) to S/A, VTX (yellow) to VIDEO
based on the common nomenclature and manual of the FC, that's correct.
great.
no worries 😉
so now i just need to check the ports tab?
I am playing the typo game on hard mode today
yup
Ports tab, UART5, Peripherals column, set to VTX (TBS SmartAudio)
then, save
not sure of the exact label
that looks correct
hey!
don't forget to save if you changed anything
press Load From File
and load the file I posted earlier
shit
the file misposted
gimme a minute
good thing i diddnt do it yet lol
just tell me where i can find it
went back to my PC lol
it's from the VTX's site on getfpv
this file is for the newer revision of the VTX, we'll check that later if you can plug in a batt
ok loaded. should i change something else or save first
save first
Can you safely plug in a battery?
ye
is the VTX antenna connected?
never power up any transmitter without an antenna connected
yes
is the VTX powering up?
I need to know the "undefined" thing 😄
hm, maybe it won't tell us until we set the band/channel/power
set these to BAND_A, 1, 25
what's it say now?
curious
battery or usb first?
batt
i dont beleive i did
hmmmmm
press save after turning it OFF
then power cycle it
and see if it comes back
same process
k
change the 14 to 0
save, power cycle
and see if anything changes
there are two versions of this VTX, one older, one newer, and the power levels differ for them
old one has 0, 1, 2, 3
newer one has 14, 20, 23, 28
okay, this is dumb
can you see the blinky LED on the VTX?
could me not being on absolute latest version of BF be an issue?
pit mode is back
4.3.0 should be new enough
actually, can you see the multi-color LED on the VTX?
lol
k
here
and turn off Pit mode
press Save, and see if it changes (immediately, without power cycling)
did the light color change?
yes
to... constant red?
okay, middle light looks red to me
yes
in that case we can probably assume that the newer number set (14, 20, etc) is the correct one
set this back to 14
and save
sorry that it was such a chore
XILO deserves a bonk for this
lol
for making a VTX that doesn't send version info
as long as i can actually see when i fly. i dont really care how long it takes
i ordered the radiomaster boxer as my first transmitter in december and got it last week
i've had this thing soldered since january
are we done now? should i test if i can actually get further than 2 feet away now?
Yup
The 2 feet thing was probably PIT mode
Oh also the VTX is now set to A1 frequency
(band A, channel 1)
perfect
that will make it easier
it works perfectly now ty so much
if u got cashapp i'd send u something for the trouble
Just pay it forward 😉
