#Control Range Limited

Hello, I recently crashed when my drone was about 100 meters away from my radio transmitter. The crash was caused by a loss of control signal, which made the drone drop rapidly. It fell out of the air and stuck perpendicularly into the ground (it looked goofy). I have a RadioMaster Zorro and an FRSky XM+, and google says that the Zorro has about 2km range, and the XM+ has about 1km range. Google searches didn't yield many useful results for increasing control range, so I am wondering; what are some good ways to increase control range? (for clarity, I am not talking about FPV video range, I could see the entire crash happen through my goggles)

I added some pics if that helps.

Thanks!

well the problem here is

#

that you use Frsky

#

switch to ELRS and you will never have control range issues again

The XM+ is notorious for having bad range, even among FrSky receivers. Before I switched to ELRS, I had good experience with the R-XSR

Thanks for the help y'all! I'm thinking of switching to ELRS since my transmitter can be flashed with it

No

You need a module for it

If you have the 4-in-1 version of the Zorro, you can't just flash ELRS to it. You'll need to purchase a separate transmitting module

Oh ok

#

I'll check that out

Lucky for you Radiomaster makes ELRS modules, and sells bundles that include a few receivers as well. It's about the best possible way to get into ELRS

What are some good ELRS receivers? I've been seeing a lot of the Mateksys R24 D

Happymodel, Radiomaster, Naminmo, Foxeer

#

Stay away from Matek, JHEMCU, and BetaFPV (ironically BetaFPV's TX module is pretty good though)

#

TCXO variants are considered better than non-TCXO, but most of the time it doesn't make a difference IMO

#

'EP2' variants (with the tiny ceramic tower antenna) will naturally get worse range than one with a full 1/4-wave antenna, but they are good enough for park flying

#

Avoid EP2 variants that have the flat SMD antennas

Thanks for so much help!

RP1 would be my go to
