@feral venture just to get this explanation out of the way
AVI and MP4 are just containers, they don't tell you much about what's actually inside (like the codec and stuff)

#

now, why do you need to make it an mp4?

feral venture
#

I cant see the video

rich dirge
#

all I can say to that is to not use a dumb media player like the one included with windows

#

is the file size "normal"? As in, not 0kb?

feral venture
#

yes, tried also with VLC player

rich dirge
#

VLC doesn't play it? Now that's odd

#

can you upload the file somewhere? like google drive or idk

#

or here, if it fits

#

imma check it out

#

that is, if you don't mind

feral venture
#

this is example bc the file I wanted is 300mb

rich dirge
#

alright, mine won't play it either

#

that's odd

#

let's see what mediainfo says

#

it doesn't see it as a video file at all

#

wtf

feral venture
#

yes very strange

rich dirge
#

did you try a different SD card?

feral venture
#

no but in this sd card I have some videos that does works

rich dirge
#

yeah well, it's not a format issue

#

the file is just corrupted

feral venture
#

this is the working files

rich dirge
#

This file loads fine in everything

#

the other one just doesn't

feral venture
#

do you have a solution idea?

rich dirge
#

tried several video file repair tools

#

none managed to fix it

#

vlc/bdfix/dvr/divfix++/wondershare repairit
no success

feral venture
#

I discovered today that I was powering off the goggles before stopping recording. After doing the the dvr would no longer start recording. I plugged sd card into pc and I could see .mov files but vlc would not play them. I did not get any errors or warinings VLC simply would quit the file. After stoping the recording before powering off goggles everything now works. Oh yea I also noticed I could not format the sd card via the goggles system menu. It may also been due to me shutting off before stopping recording.
