#Reloading Parameters With DS Map Studio Whilst In Game

Hey All,

How do you get DS Map Studio to look at your running game so that you can reload all of the game Parameters?

[I am a complete noobie with DS Map Studio, so sorry if this is a really basic question.]

+++++

I've created a project called "Reload Parameters" in my Game Folder.

I've pointed it at my game .exe file.

It creates a project.json and regulation.bin file (as normal - I think).

I open this project in DS Map Studio.

I then start the game (ER in this case) and am in the Main Menu (i.e. Continue, New Game, System, etc).

In my external monitor, I go back to the DS Map Studio project.

I go to Game > Hot Reload Params > All Params

Whenever I try this, I get a message saying: "Unable to find running game".

So I'm probably just updating the parameters of the project - and not the actual game - which is confusing DS Map Studio.

+++++

If anyone could give me a rundown on how to open Dark Souls or Elden Ring, and then use DS Map Studio to reload its parameters whilst in game, that would be super.

Thanks ahead of time.

try not running the game as admin, or running mapstudio as admin

No luck in doing both of the above things, I'm afraid.

Anything further you can suggest?

Just posting the image of what I see for reference.

Map Studio Version is: 1.08.1

The project that opens when I click on DS Map Studio lives here: ...\ELDEN RING\Game\Mods\DS Map Project

make sure you're running steam version of game with usual exe name and not some crack

I followed this guide to ensure to turned Anti-Cheat system off - I'm ONLY playing in Single-Player:

Find the start_protected_game.exe file and rename it to something (anything) else and add “.not” at the end.

When you do so, its file type should be listed as NOT and you’ll be unable to run the exe.

Next, find the elden_ring.exe file and duplicate it.

Rename that to start_protected_game.exe and load the game through Steam.

Could that be the reason?

yes

it's looking for eldenring.exe

I recommend using modengine2 instead of whatever these instructions are

Fair enough - I will do that. Thanks for the help 🙂

modengine will also help with the flow of using mapstudio, since changes are saved to a project folder, which can be directly used as mod folder without screwing with your vanilla files.
