** Aggro guide**
Aggro is an important mechanic in vindi, that is often overlooked by old and new players. Handling aggro well is a crucial part of being a good player, and is the most important part of being a good teammate.
Aggro is a part of a combo cycle for the boss, defining who is the boss target. Generally, a boss attack cycle is along those lines (with some exceptions):

  1. Select a target
  2. Select an attack, based on the target position
  3. Rotate to face the target (for most attacks)
  4. Perform the attack

For instance, a boss will not use anti range attack at close by target, or a turn attack against a target that is directly in front of the boss. Some of the attacks that are seems to be anti range of some of the older bosses are not actually anti range, for example balor meteor shout.

How does a boss select aggro
Most of the attacks follow the same procedure, each selection is based on a weighted random selection between the players. The known factors to the weights are:

  • Distance at the moment of the selection
  • How long ago was the earlier attack at the selected player
  • "Attack multiplier"
Each player dmg skill has an "aggro multiplier", and the more the player recently hit with attacks with higher multiplers the more weight he has for the next selection. Generally speaking, this often lean to classes that hits frequently. For instance, Evie raze has very fast dmg ticks and so despite the range, a boss will most likely aim at the razing evie.
Of course, beside all of the above, every player has a base weight so by chance every selection can choose every player.

How to deal with aggro
While its mostly for party play, this is also important for solo as well.
Holding aggro means you can control how the boss moves, which greatly effect your party. To hold aggro well you must cause as little as possible inconvenience to your party, generally speaking having the boss not move/rotate much. Because most classes react to attacks by moving, and so moving the boss is normally unavoidable, its best when possible to play by a wall.

How to deal with aggro, with a wall
When facing a wall, the idea is to keep the boss facing the same direction, and as little moving as possible. This will allow players to play around you, and not fear of incoming attacks if they are behind the boss. For example this bres attack can be all over the map, but because of the wall i could keep her about the same location by countering to the wall

How to deal with aggro, without a wall
Without a wall this becomes a bit more complicated, and there's more room for error. The biggest rule of thumb is be predictable . A common mistake is rotating the boss, for instance: in this gif had I have a party, they could never know where am I leading bres, and so they would either get hit or miss their block.
