This is caused by my water mer, which wasn't a problem before the water got updated to the new lighting model. Now it just looks wrong and I'm looking to see if there's a way I can keep point light lighting and stuff reflecting off the water without going just pure 0 roughness
I think it might be a good idea to go with uniform MERS values for water
I was talking about the texture 😭 It just doesn't work well together with wavy water, a lot of RTX packs remove it

But things like fog and actual textures need you to reload the world
But in general, anyone can make a pack, but making it looks good requires a lot of work, and understanding of the systems
That is also super apparent with pbr textures as well.. anyone can do it, but getting the small details down and making it really good takes some time

One of the texture artists here might have a comparison image between heightmaps and normalmaps
they have slopes to them

heightmaps are just flat
Let's just say normalmaps have a lot more granularity with how an artist can "sculpt" a PBR texture

Adapting your stuff to lab shouldn't be too bad since your pack is based off normals anyway. You will however need to draw heightmaps for POM. The hardest change to adapt to is just what the RGB channels do

Just some screenshots while playtesting some stuff for my Add-On. It's mainly world-gen focused, and it works great with Deferred. I would like some feedback too. And yea, the inside of the taiga forest looks a little bad, because I don't know why or how to fix it.

the only things deferred will get beaten in is GI and fog
but most other areas look almost just as good
but betterrtx is often too bright and due to broken clouds, lack of AO (denoiser) and lack of SSS it loses a lot

I think the way RTX handles fog is generally better tho

you can get good fog colors with deferred too
and RTX fog is not rendered at all when you look at it through anything semi-transparent
your color grading is much nicer than default BetterRTX tbh

RTX tends to fade out fog as it's farther from you rather than deferred which keeps it the same thickness no matter what

Fully redid the entire set of lighting. it progressively gets more white as the day progresses
its still a work in progress os the transitions could probably be a bit smoother
I think the last screenshot is too white, it makes it look like it's artificial and not coming from the sun
It's taken at noon. Noon time lighting is usually very white
