You need to acquire a smithing template that allows netherite upgrades

#

Put that, a diamond gear piece, and a netherite bar into a smithing table to upgrade that diamond piece into netherite.

If I'm not wrong, you original message that you deleted asked how to turn diamond gear into netherite.
