With elytra, fireworks, and unenchanted netherite spear, I did 46 damage to an iron golem

imo:
- nautilus needs nerf (you shouldn't be able to survive underwater with just a nautilus)
- spear needs buffs (lunge should not nearly instantly destroy any spear without unbreaking, and only take a little longer with unbreaking 3 netherite spear)
if you want to use the spear as a mace, the damage buildup is slower.
with sharpness 5 netherite spear, you need to fall from around 8 blocks to one-shot a creeper
and i don't think it stops fall damage, but in exchange it works with elytra.

I'm curious what bedrock will do about the mentions of spear that already exist. Like the spear item animation and animation.humanoid.brandish_spear and v.is_brandishing_spear. Like these all clearly should be trident to reflect what they actually are and make room for real spears. But... backward compatibility. Are we gonna get spear_v2? spear_real? I just discovered that alpha_test_to_opaque changes the block in the player's hand depending on the graphic, if it's simple it becomes opaque and if it's fancy it becomes transparent like vanilla
The block is also always opaque in the inventory.

It seems that the vanilla ones in the inventory always seem to be alpha_test, but in the custom one they are always opaque.
the spear's base damage being so low is not good. For a new tiered weapon, it only has 1 actually good tier.
diamond and netherite spears are usable. Anything below that kind of just isn't? wooden spear has 1 attack damage. Diamond is still only the same as a wooden sword, netherite is at least a stone sword.
for the jab attack, at least. Charge attack is better, but the jab attack in general really needs some buffs. A bit of extra reach isn't going to be that useful when it's low damage and has a long cooldown.

also looking at the spear textures, it doesn't seem to look like spear but a spiral thing on the tip of stick.

the trident lets you actually fly in the rain and go in any direction, the spear only lets you boost yourself forward.
we don't talk about trident fly in bedrock lol
plus, unless they change the lunge enchant, the spear breaks instantly.
since it uses up 128 durability per hit

you do not touch the ground and just randomly dies in the air when traveling with trident on air.

at least with the axes, the only ones with different damage values are wood (7) and netherite (10). All others deal 9, and they get better attack speed with higher tiers.
which i think would have been a better approach for spears if they really want the highest base damage to be 5.
give wooden spear 3, netherite 5, and all the others 4.
or increase the damage enough to make the higher cooldowns with each tier actually still feel worth it.

java spear also doesn't follow the usual java combat mechanics.
normally you can still attack when a weapon is on cooldown, just at lower damage. with the spear you can't.

the thing is, density already builds up damage very fast.
breach on java is only usable in pvp assuming you're falling from a height where breach will one-shot them, but density won't.
since the 2 aren't compatible with each other.
you either deal extra damage to everything, or extra damage through armor.
on bedrock, the extra damage through armor can be used with regular attacks, which makes it situationally better even in survival. on java, the cooldown is so slow you'll never want to use the mace's regular attack.

Durability cost for Lunge definitely needs to be looked at
And Iโm not too concerned about damage being minimum because of the increased range; feels like a good balance here. If you want more damage, simply increase your speed and your risk by getting closer to your target.

One thing I do dislike though is the zombies and husks with spears, they just feel like a version of them with a spike in front of them. I feel like having a spear should make them able to run or something for them not to be the typical mob with a weapon we are used to see, just like drowned are able to throw tridents

First up, thats a melee weapon, but completely regardless of that, damage is dealt because the client sends the server a packet telling it hit someone. So just in case you missed it, this means that ping has no effect on wether the hit is counted or not.

I later disagreed to Kaioga saying you shouldnt care, but that doesnt specifically mean that I said that the weapon as a whole is unsuited, rather than its mechanic. And if you understood it that way, thats okay, but then that is, like I said, a misunderstanding of what I was saying.
Thats the mechanic, the way the weapon is implemented, is highly unfair for players with poor internet or is just a massive insecurity and that they should reconsider it

small inconsistency with vanilla, even though both use minecraft:geometry.cross the custom one is above the flower pot while vanilla is inside
Another inconsistency in vanilla is that it is only possible to remove a block from a flower pot if the block cannot be placed in the flower pot or is empty in hand, however with the custom block it is possible to remove it even if it is possible to place it in a flower pot.
Another inconsistency: the pick block does not work when the flower pot has a custom block with only vanilla blocks.

yeah, but it's the only dyable light source right now. Logically it doesn't make much sense for them to be different colours, but given that they're already dyable and have 4 levels of intensity, they are kind of the perfect block to have coloured lighting.

onPlayerInteract disables any interaction with the block other than what is defined, for example defining that when using bonemeal the custom sapling will grow, however all other interactions are canceled as interacting with a block nothing will happen the block will not be placed is this intentional or a bug?
