15fps in a void world!

It's fine, as i don't want to play with it, i just needed to see whether my custom entities, items and blocks work with it, and they clearly don't
On the left are custom features, while on the right are vanilla features, i expected redstone ore to have a glowing effect in VVs but apparently not
This is my attempt at manually creating a vv texture, it doesn't look right
is there an image converter for this sort of stuff?

To convert an item.png into item_mers.tga which is a blue image like the one you see on the right
Theres no easy converter that makes it look good.

Just manually draw it.
A program doesnt really know the context from a png whether to make something shiny or glowy or roughy

And "doesnt fit" is subjective, however, the biggest thing in my opinion is that slopes have waves and there's no generic cave/underground biome.
Basically if you use above 16 octaves it can nuke performance on phones
But people have mentioned looking at water causes extreme lag on some devices even without waves
But their water iirc is ray marched for the volumetrics so it's not cheap regardless
Fair: another issue with waves is the snells window. You can see these like wave layers and it causes extreme ghosting and water surface reflections don't work correctly either
Iโm working on a project that basically does that for block textures, but item textures are something else entirely lol

Can anyone else confirm that /place feature does not detect a feature if that feature is never called using a feature rule?
I have:
feature_1 that places feature_2. feature_1 is placed via a feature rule
I also have feature_3 that isn't called by anything
/place feature detects 1 and 2, but not 3.

probably an optimisation made not thinking that a way to place features without rules would be added
That drove me insane.
I also realised that /place feature for dripstone places the correct states but via world gen it does not.
Mojang confirmed multiple times that they will continue to improve VV for years and years. (Maybe a new feature or improvement on every drop?)

There's just a lot of confusion in the community and it's only gonna get worse now that some people have "cracked" VVs code and are making shaders for it. This stuff is very weird and there's a strange line to cross when defining differences

smooth vs simple lighting
some light goes through it in smooth lighting (including VV since the block light with VV appears the same as smooth lighting)
it doesn't for other blocks which block light.

I find the smaller previews irons out the odd bugs whereas the bigger previews tend to iron out related bugs to features.

I like the new content, however the old content feels so left out. It is no longer a redesign of things but rather an addition to the game. Anything feels like an add-on nowadays rather than actual updates

It kind of worries me, the direction we're heading for... if we get these shelves, what is stopping Mojang from adding chairs? What is stopping them from adding furniture, or cars?

And Dennis MERS texture uses the updated texture from java while bedrock still has the old one

Its not worrying really. When I first heard about the shelves I did have that thought but when the article finally released this week I was put at ease. Its not straight up a furniture but rather a deco block with a uniqeue twist.

tbh it seems like they're facing a lot more criticism with these smaller drops, they're adding like one or two features at a time which makes people focus on the really small details which didn't really happen with the larger updates from before
Like I said, the updates are great. However they feel less as 'updates' and more as Addons. They don't 'update' old content anymore, which is a shame
I can definitely see it as a shelf when it's a full wall of them but the wooden bit separating the shelves is way too big

That's why so many people ask for an End update cause it will actually do what they want - update old content. And I know the end update isn't coming any soon (seeing how much lack of support Bedrock has when it comes to end-related content), but it shows what trives the game - changes that add onto existing gameplay by changing the old content

i dont think that's any reason to say it's not in the works, if anything it means they have more reason to do so
Actually, Add-On wise we have a lot of power to update the end... played with that idea a lot and we've started with some really intriguing concepts

Yeah I heard many mixed opinions about the bowl of the dye. I personally don't find it weird, but many people find it weird that if you craft dye you suddenly get a bowl

dyed water and potions in cauldrons are very flat with VV
compared to regular water in cauldrons which shines in a much more water-like way

paintings don't have depth, they are flat so they should use more flat looking material
that try to mimic canva material instead of reflecting what is on painting
some painting do actually have depth even if a little

It's weird how different End Gateways are between java and bedrock
yeah they're beyond different that you can actually die by the void in bedrock.
they're completely different visually, too. And they're a solid block, while you can go through them on java.
on java, the end gateways stay the same on your screen no matter how you move. On bedrock, they stay the same if you move left/right/up/down, but not if you turn your camera.
and bedrock ones have a lot more dots

VR as a whole i think was mishandled technology. It had the potential to be this great new thing, but it kind of just remained a weird gimmick instead.
they were, originally minecraft on VR was just a thing where you put a phone on a weird-looking VR compatible goggles and you use controller to play on it.
other VR supports on that is just built on top of the old system.
