tl;dr — a menu that shows up when you reinstalled the game nor you know how. they're hidden after first launch so that's about it.

I've been wanting that too. Biomes are useful for ambience (fog, audio, etc), but there's no way to set a biome in-game.

I've been making maps for forever. There's only so much boilerplate I'm willing to write.
And speaking of ambience, sound events in sound_definitions.json should be able to play other sound events. It's a parity issue too.
It's a good way to make sound event variants without listing the sound files again. Some of my sound events have like 30-50 sounds and listing them multiple times wastes so much space.
It's also pretty useful for random background ambience.

Hello how many fps are y’all getting with VV? I’m getting like between 40 and 50
I've had to set my resolution to 66% to feel like it's 60 fps in my world on the Series S with everything medium besides the fog
With 12 chunks I believe
I play at 33% on XSS and everything else works fine at max then.
Reduce settings a bit if i play at higher resolution
On my GTX 1650 laptop it runs around 40 fps with those same settings but with the 66% looking horrible compared to the Xbox
I've noticed on Android when you hold certain items it freezes up for a second in VV
resolution must set to native otherwise it looks really bad

if we get a new Minecraft spin-off game at some point, could be neat to see a similar level of in-game promotion for it both in terms of free marketplace stuff and some fun, small features from it added to the main game.

I agree. So many aspects of Dungeons could have fit well in the main game. Vindicator chefs in mansions, Dungeons-style illusioners in raids, icy zombie and creeper variants, and many other mobs. Boots of swiftness and death cap mushrooms could also fit.
And I think a nerfed overcharge could have worked as a vanilla enchantment

i mean, i think a year of major parity and technical changes would be nice.
some new features, sure, as not everyone would be working on those anyway.
but bedrock still needs full custom superflat functionality (including structures), single biome worlds, large biomes, amplified, the off-hand, a lot of different commands, the debug stick, the recent happy face sad face blocks, item frame parity, etc.
and java needs the bedrock cauldrons, wither, bone meal, block placing mechanics, VV, and probably other stuff.

Combined with both that screenshot and the Twitter post saying "CU", the symbol for copper, and the "beep beep beep" on TikTok, I suspect it is the copper golem

They can add 1 mob vote losers and/or biome losers for each drop. We get 4 drops in a year, so they can easly complete the cycle in just 1-2 years.

They would not tease something this early. People often forget that Bedrock gets stuff early sometimes. Recent example being the Locator Bar.
The gameplay team has been split ever since the Drop system.
They're already working on the Fall and Winter Drop. Then when those previews gets released, the spring and summer ones start working.

that is true, usually when they tease something, that's a "later this week" announcement, or a "announced at minecraft live in a week or 2" rather than a "we have a concept and will add it to snapshots and previews in a few weeks".

for the great hunger, yeah. Kind of. We have a way to remove enchants. We don't know how it would have been used to add enchants.

for barnacle, you could argue the magma block is similar but like, it's not really. It pulls you down but it's hardly a threat.

i think barnacle would have been a bad addition back when the mob vote happend. I think it could work now, if they did another ocean update that adds a deeper ocean biome (one that goes almost all the way down to bedrock) as then, you could have mobs like that only attack you if you're already underwater (like, you need to be within 40 blocks of it maybe).

as much as phantoms sucked, the barnacle would likely have upset more players back with update aquatic
Update Aquatic was nice, but i still feel like oceans don't have much reason to explore them (besides shipwrecks), they just look less boring now.
phantoms at least don't tend to spawn above oceans whereas barnacles would have screwed most players trying to check out the new content

really upsetting how the ruins and shipwrecks still use the same set of prefabs
yeah, but at the same time i could see a bit of extra challenge being neat (especially since the vote happened before we knew of an ocean update, so oceans had nothing. and now they just have drowned). Just, really depends on how well they'd do it.
I think a deeper ocean that goes all the way down to nearly bedrock level could work as a new major area, similar to how the deep dark is kind of its own thing. It'd be deep enough that you can't reasonably get to and from the surface quickly so you'd instead try to find ways to survive underwater.
The problem with this is Java.
they'd need to get bedrock's waterlogging mechanics for any of this to make sense
otherwise you can survive underwater way too easily

How common is it for drops and new features to hit bedrock first? What happened with copper golem, and I'm not even talking about VV. But has something like that also happened in the past? How often do new features get delayed on java edition?
Hard to remember but i think about uncommon-ish.
I've seen alot of new drops coming to bedrock preview first then snapshots later.
I was just thinking, if you wanted to encourage more players to try out bedrock, intentionally delaying new features on java is one way to do it. Got this idea after seeing many java mc YouTubers try out new features on bedrock in the recent updates.
Iirc they also delayed happy ghasts and lead changes. And I've seen technical java YouTubers cover these features on bedrock when they released
yeah, although I've never expected it to be uncommon than causally or rare after they announced the drop schedule.
back then when there's always major updates, java will usually get them first.
Drops has only been out for a year and so far locator bar and copper golem come to mind.
Bedrock gets things first. Its uncommon but it does exist. Goats, frogs, 1.18 mountains, sculk stuff.
That's interesting. You'd think that a cross platform game would take longer to develop for.
These are mostly smaller features though and have been prototyped behind the scenes a few months in advanced.
Not to mention the two teams have different work schedules so if both platforms have them ready but one team is on vacation, why bother delaying it?
