apparently they forced a mine level 2 unlocked via a pack, and somehow. lets you get in the level 2 mine even though you're not supposed to. there's like 0 check whatsoever

Probably got disabled after few days since it caused quite a chaos in day one.
This thing randomly spawns in randomly locations so you would literally die by 2-3 hits with leather armor.
you cannot outrun it either since it literally FAST
quite a tank too since it took me about 7 or 8 hits with maxed diamond sword to kill it.

it's not that hard or long to grind
you get about 16,000~ emeralds per hour when grinding mining
which diamond sword costs 1500 upto around 3000 or 4000 emeralds, the enchantment costs about 5000 emeralds and it's only one time upgrade.
idk if it's intentional or not but you can only enchant your stuff once.

you can drop them as items and give them to other players which is what i did with my leftover diamonds
but like, if you kill a great hog with a bow, or are in a cave away from it, you still get the diamonds even if you never get close to it.
(the way i got the cape was: 2 great hog kills with sword, 1 with bow, and 1 where i never even saw it, someone killed it in a nearby cave)
it's probably detects who does the damage most or which player joined first.
either way literally everyones just die to it and i can get diamond from that way

Today I watched the Minecraft movie, and well it was better than I expected, it's not the movie of the year, I honestly found the movie a little rushed, but I liked it, it's cool, and the translation of the items is very good, they used the Java translation a lot, anyway I liked it, I recommend it if you're not too demanding

MCPE-179126 - I can no longer repro this on Windows.
MCPE-170849 - I agree with you this is a valid bug. When it was closed, we had different Parity goals. Where there are nearly identical commands with nearly identical functionality between Bedrock/Java - we should be syntactically at parity. This is at least how we should be designing new commands. It's tougher to prioritize fixing older commands at the expense of other feature work.
MCPE-114592 - I can still repro this issue. Raised this to folks who are looking holistically at stuff like this these days.
MCPE-161850 - I can still repro, but I agree that this isn't going to be prioritized to be fixed.
MCPE-31709 - Sent this to someone that is looking at stuff close to this to see if they want to improve. But I agree with the low priority that the bug got.
MCPE-31705 - There were debates on this one on how to handle in the context of accessibility systems. Folks landed on the perspective that the current design is preferred.
MCPE-185067 - This is accurately close as-designed. Our current /reload all is a workflow improvement that is a stop-gap while we continue to look at places where we can improve hot-reloading. Closing this bug doesn't mean we've stopped looking at all up workflow improvements.
Unfortunately, it isn't scalable for me to try to dig up all bugs, but hopefully this helps bring closure to some of these 🙂

MCPE-179126 - I actually tested this just yesterday on the preview. You have to be a really fast typer but it does still make me type /ive and /coreboard maybe 50% of the time
MCPE-170849 - I was surprised because they changed the : to = citing parity in the changelog but there never was parity in this command (and still isn't)
MCPE-185067 - I get it but frankly it's crazy that world loading performance in general is this bad
Others - thank you, I get that many of these seem trivial/inconsequential but they really do matter to me, I wouldn't have taken the time to report them otherwise
World loading - that's a broader issue than /reload all. And it's something folks are always looking at.
MCPE-179126 - ok yeah, I can repro, but BARELY. There's got to be less than a frame window. It's possible it's platform specific and if your PC is slower framerate, it could impact. Either way, I agree with the priority of the bug.
And I know all the bugs you report matter to you. I appreciate every bug you enter! They are all valid. We just can't fix everything, and sometimes we just don't agree. But that doesn't mean your bugs are invalid 🙂
When I worked QA at EA, hundreds of my bugs would get shipped with every title 🙂

I'm actually very patient, as long as the bug is open I will wait as long as it takes until it gets fixed, but "won't fix??" Like... EVER?!
I'm still coping that the sprint jump animation issue will get fixed in some years because they set it to "postponed" instead of WF
part of this is also just maintaining hygiene in bug trackers. there's always two philosophies here:
- Keep any bug around as long as possible as a record
- Clean up the bugs so that only bugs of a high enough priority are kept, so that when teams do filtering, you save them time from not looking at bugs that are unlikely to be fixed.
With that said, I have no idea what the philosophy is for the Mojira folks 🙂 But based on what ya'll are posting today, it seems to be that they are trying to synchronize status between our internal bug tracker and Mojira.

Any ideas for ways to display maps on custom blocks?
I myself am iffy on reporting bugs. I had one that I raised on the private tracker that was valid and causes a painful amount of friction for people doing world-gen. It was — and I'm still adamant about this — incorrectly dismissed.
Since then, I haven't bothered reporting most bugs I come across in the add-ons engine.
This seems more of a general #add-ons question.

I've only bothered reporting bugs that frankly makes no sense such as some item component's values being affected by two's complements.
Mine was that grid distribution ranges in scatter interfaces (present in both feature rules and scatter features) are incorrectly projected to 0 most of the time. The simplest workaround for this bug is to make a whole new file.
Guess how often fixed grid distributions need to be used by people who know what they're doing in world-gen? All the damned time. 😦
God, I know so many. I think I could probably file 200 bug reports just relating to the add-ons engine… and that's just blocks, items, particles, and world-gen.

I know. It's just hard. Writing good bug reports is quite time-consuming. The hardest part is trying to be convincing that the issue is important enough to fix.
For example, developer experience is almost always sacrificed in favor of getting new features in. Many of my reports and snippets of feedback to Mojang technically have workarounds, so they're usually ignored.
I'd argue that a lot of the feature work we do is to provide more stable solutions than the workarounds used by the community. But the point is taken.
HCF moment.
"backward compatibility" can also make "small quality of developer life" changes really really expensive.
But as always, we try to balance work. New stuff, improve stuff, stabilize stuff.
And I will say, Cici, your feedback has helped us take action in improving our platform in more ways than you probably know. ❤️

Re: Bug tracker—One I was a bit disappointed to see come back as Won't Fix was MCPE-128407: Selecting text does not highlight it. While I can live with it due to how I select text, it is a pretty major UX feature that is missing across nearly every UI in the game

This one was triaged a long time ago as a pretty low impact fix. Curious what scenarios this impacts you in. I guess, without this fix, content that has lots of structures would be large on the player's device - wheras if you could store and load compressed structures, the content would be smaller for players? Honestly, anything related to the old JSON UI I just hold my breath and wait for OreUI. All of these screens are going to get completely redone at some point in the next 100 years. And the OreUI text input component has this feature (as you can see in current OreUI screen). But, it's not a great excuse, I get that.

I'm not sure to what extent this affects bandwidth or download times, but we want to keep packs compliant and small. It's tempting now to embed structures in the world instead despite the disadvantages of that

It's a mod, if datapacks wise you need to have a model then animate it like a keyframe in-game using invisible invulnerable armor stand or entity
It just doesn't support it. You basically need to make a scoreboard timer and have it modify the NBT of a display entity at certain points in time. It's about as crude as it gets.
We're also limited to scoreboard math. If you need a trig function or bitwise operation, you need to make one.
Then there's the lack of bones, the rotation limits on the model format, etc. I can go on for ages about this. It's so bad and hasn't changed for like a decade.
There are tools like Animated Java that can generate "animations", but it just doesn't feel right. Mojang will change something randomly and your 100,000+ commands you generated will need to be fixed.

fun fact if you still have a world with the Slate when they accidently added it in, its not an update info block, so i think eventually itll come back as an actual feature in coming updates (they did this with the NPC, border, deny and allow blocks before they were added officially)

We play as a party on the same Wi-Fi (we're roommates), and though it’s rare, the game sometimes freezes for all of us-across Windows, Linux (Android). When it happens, the game freezes and doesn't close itself, causing high RAM usage, 100% SSD usage and constant swapping RAM (screenshot attached).
The whole Windows would freeze if you don't act quick (force kill Minecraft process), the game makes the swap size increased to 40GB or something...

also, the 99% ram usage is really weird. Maybe it was failing to swap properly and keeps retrying?
the strangest part was, task manager showed that minecraft wasn't using anywhere near that much memory - the RAM was being used by something else, but it didn't show up in task manager

That server was created to communicate with mod and shader developers and make sure Mojang doesn't permanently kill shaders again in another game edition

There's a vulkan mod on java and does indeed work on PC or just pojav (with additional vulkan android library required). they basically just swap the entire pojav renderer into Vulkan instead, regardless which renderer you choose, it will be replaced by Vulkan completely.
It runs basically better than any renderer pojav provided.
Unfortunately, some mods that require additional stuff that vulkan does not have will not work.
All of this, only vulkan renderer. somehow makes a emulated java edition on a phone more playable than bedrock with more render distance, playable servers with like 50 players whereas bedrock just turning itself into a slideshow with that amount of players.
If a emulated version of the game runs better than native version of the game that is supposed to be more optimized than java-based game, that's pretty bad.

they're already improving transportation with happy ghasts and new lead mechanics, so they might as well also improve the minecarts and make it a full transportation drop.
(and the minecart experiments work really well with the new lead mechanics)

Minecarts in Bedrock are so broken at this point, even any update will make them better
(In case you don't know, they can ride on rails normally but if they aren't on any rails or go off their rails everything gets weird)
Coolest thing about minecarts on Bedrock at least is you can make them load chunks with just a behavior pack
