A lot of marc brunets art that I have seen recently has got a lot more simple

From the notifications I’ve been getting, it looks like he’s trying to branch out a bit and try new things

Yea, from what I remember he was doin a lot of style studies

Learning from other artists and stuff. Ig that’s a good direction to go since before that, a lot of his stuff was content he has already made before (hand/hair tutorials, shading tutorials, etc)

I haven’t watched him in a long time because of that

But I also just don’t need that style of tutorial content at this point

The way he broke down all the muscles as he was drawing the body really helped me back then

One of the few anime were I can say unquestionably that the dub is way better than the sub

I did some free sketching from claire wendling, didn’t really strive for learning as I usually do with studies

This is just me sketching for fun

I think this is the best shot tho

And with the light, but dats finished

It only took around 5 min placing the characters in, cuz I didn’t use huidelines or wasn’t tryna be super precise

It took prob like thrice that just choosing random lines to place on it

Is a system

A system for drawing things like the body

Because I basically just wing it everytime, and while I did study a few,

I think using more photos will be helpful for that since you’ll be able to test whatever you come up with and see if it’s applicable to any ref you pick

Instead of artists’ stuff where you’re subconsciously biased towards trying to imitate their methods to get their results

Which will give me ample time to draw just that and really ingrain it

Idk why, but I feel like china/japanese culture is like

I would say a lot more interesting to me

Especially the way they speak

How japanese people speak just has a sense of closeness and stuff

It is interesting, but I would kinda say the opposite tbh. I can’t speak for Chinese culture, but from what I know of Japanese culture, it seems much more impersonal. Examples would be hikikomori and many establishments being specifically made to limit interaction with others. Even things like status are practically embedded into the language.

On the other hand, from all the jp media I consume (actual people, podcasts, streams, music, n of course anime/manga), there’s something very unique about their internal monologue. I often see this fight between tradition and the desire to change that feels very different from the way western people explore those ideas. Another super prominent theme is the longing for youth. How many hs slice of life anime speak of adult life as assimilation and a sort of death to one’s true self? The language itself has some words that describe beautiful but mundane things that are easy to overlook (like ‘komorebi’ which is light shining through trees). Ofc not all Japanese people are like this, but they seem very introspective and have unique takes on a lotta philosophical questions that resonate with me.

I get the sense that it would take much much longer for the average jp person to open up and let you know about themselves on a deeper level, but maybe in turn, that could make such relationships much more personal and special🧐 definitely an interesting cultural difference to think about

And like, this guy can actually draw really good, yet has the audacity to trace other really good artists and use ai

And try to say its not true, when some of their shi is almost a one to one match

They should definitely be made fun of tho, cuz like, if you can already draw that good, there is mo reason for u to lie about tracing bozo

The funniest things about the video was when the guy was hired by dc, or rather like, dc just keeps him hired most of the time basically, and he used ai to make like 50% of a cover page

With all the ai art stuff going on now, I bet I could start ai tracing and post it on socials, then get a lot of controversy surrounding me then blow up

I’m just not soulless enough to do that

Today a small unknown competitive player (basically someone who plays in tournaments) had the audacity to challenge me

But like, only because I’m nit playing competitive right now, so I aint keeping myself in shape

The most important thing is to make the the form of the from the head to the crotch without the arms or legs first

Kinda? Growing up, my twin brother was the ‘artist.’ Art was touted as this thing that you couldn’t learn, and my family always admired that talent he had. I definitely didn’t have that and therefore didn’t draw pretty much at all til 2020

So looking at thats stuff that’s lowkey dogshit and seeing that I kept going despite that does give me a sense of accomplishment

But how far I’ve climbed thus far still feels like an anthill compared to the absolute behemoth of a mountain of things I want to learn. I feel accomplished but not satisfied

But my personal rule for this page size would be that no more than 3 poses should fit on one page. If more fit, draw bigger
