They dont need light, but it helps. Theres a multiplier when it detects a light source nearby

Nah one bug was a regression, I removed some code (because hytale changed to allow arrows coming from the backpack) and that deleted code that was checking for arrows correctly... so I made a little duplication glitch 😄
The other was that it wouldn't give back arrows if you logged off and back in, and that's now fixed.

So not technically the update that did it, but my change reacting to that update.

Lots of java. The thing I'm doing is that each weapon gets individual experience and can get level ups, and when you level up you can give add some effects to it from a choice of 3 random selections (either upgrades or new effects). Think Vampire Survivor upgrade for weapons and armor.

How do you guys feel about Minecarts in Hytale? Honestly feels kind of weird that you can just hold W to climb forever without any fuel or powered rails. Plus, no collision and zero fall damage while you're in one feels a bit "god mode" for a survival game.

camera is too high when youre inside them. its about 3 blocks up in the air. If anything, the camera should go down to, id say, 1.5 blocks (since youre sitting inside it) not up. yeah its a bummer. They don't allow any dev help really, pushed it all to Modding where they dont have any accountability for their actions. Sounds like for liability concerns. Which is even worse to push that off on the community members instead of using profits to manage it as a corporation.

I added a Showcase channel in my server so people CAN show what they are doing daily, self promo and get real help. It's sick to me that we help people and indies to get to the top then they ban all self promo and abuse those who helped. We helped you get here and now instead of helping others up to the top too they get scared we're stealing from them and censor everything. Happens over and over.

The Hytale Modding server is only so big because they were allowed to promo here before it was stopped. It's how I learned about them.

I can see that, but just because something is hard doesn't mean you ignore it. Means you make it more managable. For durability with a pick or axe/hatchet, does it go down per hit or per block broken? It seems like sometimes it's per hit because you break a block when it's near 0 and perhaps hit the next block 2 or 3 times and then it breaks. Is there a random component to durability loss? If it's per hit (with a random component), that would mean that a lower-quality material would break less blocks because it takes more hits to break them.

This is only temp issue until they fix the optimization

However, we reported this to Mojang in Bedrock 7 years ago and they still haven't fixed it. So... Good luck. In Bedrock this is called the Pink bug and there are hundreds of videos and reports on it too.

The solution is easy. Hytale Engine is NOT optimizing the atlas layout and all the mods art is being places on y isntead of filling the atlas

I've reported this directly to the team but you know how it goes their not goin to listen to a scub like me when with proof. So until hundreds or thousands of people complain and it gets above the 80k support tickets in to critical I don't think we'll see a solution.

So if you're doing an HD mod you can have around 250 textures which is not very many. If you're doing 512 or 256 you have much more room. in the 2k-4k range. Many of Hytale textures are 32x32 for blocks. So that helps. Thinks like animated UVs take up alot of space.

I'm trying to get Hytale to break apart the Mod atlas from the core games so we the modders get our own and have more spce. The more Hytale fill up the game the less modders will have to add their own.

No, this was done many years before Ai. Many game engines have a buffer of 1 pixel on each side. So we have to account for that. Since the buffer is based on the number of textures NOT pixels it's added to each texture's overhead. Because some engines use different numbers of buffer we settled on 36x36 to try and account for that

Note this chart only applies IF Hytale fixes this bug and optimizes the Atlas correctly.

If it's a particle system then Yes you can use it. If it's a particle, then you need to put it in a particle system to use. I have a program to edit/make these or you can do it in asset editor. I also have a guide how to add them to the items.

Yesterday I worked out a NPC randomizer. So you can Make an NPC with character creator in game. Then say you want 20 vars of it and click. and it's done. They will randomly generate on spawn from those vars. It's not just 20, it's 20 for each category, 20 jackets, 20 shirts... they mix and match so thousands of NPCs. I think it will help allow the worlds to be alot fuller, Beta soon.

My issue is im getting a Connected via STUN
Nat type: Restricted [No UPnP].
So I can not connect to my other friends' worlds with just sharing the code and what not.

I did try and succeed with tailscale with a friend tho. BUT my other friend who lives in Boonies internet cant connect to it. :/ Im not tech enough to understand it all. All my other co-op games run fine with both friends T-T

Nat is only necessary for p2p (peer to you) connections. You still should be able to play with someone else who is not on a restrictive NAT.

Tailscale is giving you a VPN Point 2 Point. But you need a Point to Multipoint solution for 3 people. This is hard to do with Software VPNs like Tailscale. Its easier with a Hardware VPN Device for the entire network but costly. The better option is to setup a Port forwarding solution so your NAT is open on the server side. Some ISPs use NAT at their level and will prevent this still.

There is a solution if you mess around with a few configurations but that's a lot of work and can be heel when you don't understand what you are actually seeing

Most games either proxy connections with their own servers or require you to port forward. If you can't use a cloud host or find someone without a restrictive firewall then you're out of luck

In a perfect solution. Each of you would open those ports and point them to your PCs on your own networks with Static IPS.
This should open all your NATS on that port. then it should be clean. This is what we've had to do for 30 years in Halo and xbox to keep voice chat and everyone connected. I would remote in to each gamers house and fix their router/NAT. This is best option.

I think teaching port forwarding is best option. Since it's so common there are thousands of guides.

Still, is very risky since you are opening to the public, ports that reveal to say your location, or IP. Your decision to take the risk.

There are many ways around this.
But an open port does peak a watchers interest.
However, It only takes 4-7 days to scan the entire internet and map it all in IPv4 so you're really not any safer, or not, I have a map. I've self hosted for decades. It's more about what the port connects to. The server is the only one at any risk really but thats the cost of self hosting. You could DMZ it if you have the hardware. Or have your ISP give you a block of Statics and put it outside the NAT. but it's costly and still at risk.

As far as I know, since You are basically running a server when creating a world in Hytale and you host to friends, you are basically being a server for them? You are being the cloud and is more a thing of the ones that are trying to join than your problem itself? Or it can also be your problem because..well, the restrictive firewall kicking out those not allowed requests...and I just realized I'm yapping about something that everyone knows already.

Kind of. The issue is when you are the "cloud" for real you have a public IP thats static and you don't use NAT like this. You have these port hard programmed to the app/server. You're trying to be a home and cloud server at same time. So you have issues.

Sadly the issue could be, host, ISP, client, or all 3. It's a complex and frustrating part of how the TCP/IP internet is made.

So....You are basically using your own network as a server to connect people to the "home server" which is you, so you have two types of servers that are communicating between themselves? The client is connected to the "Home server", so whatever happens to you is what reflects the client/host as one? As for the ISP...well that's out of your hands because you are not the provider of it, but at the same time it is because you are the one hosting through this provider?..making everything...a single problem that signals to technically speaking, "you" as the client but really referring to how Hytale works

Yeah and NAT and ISP are trying to prevent you from self hosting because of email spam an botnets. So you are fighting alot. It's doable but painful in 2026.
