I would recommend seeing which good ammo you have access to and then use whatever guns can go onto that ammo...for your level probably M80 7.62x51NATO is your best bet or maybe like a shotgun with flechette or something

you can buy other ammo's as well, but instead from traders you would have to buy them from players and they make it overpriced on purpose....yea its really really good you can use it from level 15 to level 60 and still kill people

Like- that's- everything is built on the idea that what happens out there is going to be a teeth clenched struggle. every mechanic is built on this idea of choosing fights and drawn out conflicts and stealth, and shit being risky. How can you fucking tolerate any of the difficulty if the game is still fundamentally broken on a mechanical, basic level- like the first thing you do when you're making a first person shooter.

If you have that, try using SMGs, i find them so easy to hit shots, and the recoil is really easy to control

Can you guys help me with how to read the gun stats?
When I look at a gun, how do I know if it's gonna be able to be used at a distance or if I need to be right up in someone's face to be able to hit them?

And what kinda stats do I look for in recoil?

Sks is an ok beginner gun with ps from prap, you wont bekilling many scavs from 200m on customs (except sniper)

Bullets in this game dont stop existing after X meters but they do lose energy over distance (meaning they do less damage) and they drop due to gravity. How much varies per bullet and also depends on the gun that fires them

Yeah, I know to try and look for level 4 but I really don't see much of that at the moment. I'm level 6 and I am lucky to see level 3. If I do it's because I picked it up on a scav run

Honestly the only thing Id recommend you is not to run scav guns. Weapon durability in this game affects accuracy and the odds of jamming. You cant really mod guns out properly at lvl 1 anyways so I typically just run big rounds on single fire early on

Awesome, thank you so much I've saved all those links as well. I'll stick to cheaper guns from traders and strip the scav ones. That's probably where I've been going wrong as they are all I've really been running.

try not to use scav weapons too much, the durability is very crappy, and is unreliable

I like the vpo-136 you can buy at level 1. Load the magazine with PS ammo from prapor. Once you hit level 2 traders you can buy the RFB from skier and load it with M80 rounds from Peacekeeper.
