People usually pick Skier for the helmet unlock. All the other rewards from each trader is just money. However, if you're struggling a lot with rep and can't do the "repayment" quests for the 2 traders you piss off, then choose around that.

As a PMC its very risky as a scav has little to nothing to lose for killing you, but everything to gain (your loot). You could run in with little to nothing with your only goal being to extract with a scav of course.
As a scav its less risky since the roles are reversed, however since you usually spawn in later in the raid, it can be difficult to even find a PMC, let alone a PMC willing to extract with you.

You can try to cheese it with a friend by having your friend queue up as a scav on the same map/time that you're playing on, but this is highly luck based

#

If you're not afraid of leaving yourself exposed and are ready to be betrayed, finding a scav with your melee out at all times is the best way to gain their trust. Using the "Hold your fire" voice command helps too in this regard - You can also shoot in the air at the extract, perhaps in a pattern to try and draw attention to yourself

Well, when you get a higher scav rep, losing some doesn't matter as much, as your cooldown and loadout will still be pretty good. Its an unfortunate side effect of the current system

You can climb that back up fairly easily. The lower rep you have, the longer the cooldown becomes, and the worse loadouts you get. Also, scavs will be hostile by default eventually. Take some car extracts as a PMC and you'll be in the + in no time

Do keep in mind, the more you've used the car, the less karma you get. Each map have their own karma to gain. 0.25 -> 0.12 -> 0.06 etc. to 0.01 I believe
