@mystic oar it's all preference. There is not much difference between USEC and BEAR.
BEAR does however start with AK platforms which has easier more ammo freely accessible. But you get enough ammo from your starter pack to feed all the guns you start with, so you don't have to worry about acquiring more unless you die.
And of you die you'd end up spending money regardless of being BEAR or USEC on the same stuff.
If I had to make an argument that's not about a gear, it's pushing voicelines as bear might make some inexperienced players think you're a scav and drop their guard, though it's a very nice argument.

every death will be a teaching lesson... the biggest problem with trying to get people to "teach" you when your lvl 1 and they are a high lvl... you simply cannot keep up. endurance lvl 1 and strength lvl 1 can maybe take 30 steps before running out of energy. where as i have 51 endurance and 39 strength... we would spend the entire raid just trying to find 1 another due to the sevear speed difference.
when wipe happens tomorrow. find your self a group of players to play alongside and absorb what they are doing. if your lucky u will find a group of players with good map knowledge so your quests will progress quite fast. but the only way to really learn tarkov... is to get TARKOVED
