Depends on what you're going to do.

If you're going scav killing, a .366 AP VEPR is great as it one-taps any scavs to the thorax.

If you're hunting chads on a budget, a Hunter loaded with M62's is a great option.

guys, imma drop my ego and be straight with you. Im fairly decent at Tarkov, but i never use snipers. Punisher questline's been going pretty smooth sailing but im having a lot of issues with the last quest. I straight up dont use DMR's aside from the SR-21/DT-MDR. The SVD is a good gun, but i absolutely suck with it. Have made only a single kill last 9 raids and almost every engagement i was put into i could've likely won had i used an AR like i normally do. I'm getting my ass handed to me.

I could use some help with this, if anyone's got advice i'd love to hear it.

@honest eagle geksa is very bad against armor but it has very good flesh if you have to use it then aim for the legs to get the most out of the round, if you connect your shots it should only take 3-4 hits to the legs to drop someone, if you are lucky then maybe 2 hits.

ok, its lvl 1. most ammo will pen it but it still has high ricochet chance. that is my go to helmet because of that. you really need lvl 5+ armor for pvp. so ricochet chance is what usually matters on helmets. for scav protection lvl 3-4 is fine though

@hot bear it doesnt provide ballistic protection, but it has a chance to ricochet. Most helmets will not stop ammunition used by most players, relying on ricochet is a gamble, but if it pays off it can sve your life. Its cheap too. Worth the investment.

i cant tell you how many times my helmet dinged a bullet that was going straight for my head, and vice versa and i lost the chance of a quick kill. It can save your life and win you engagements.

The new flash shotgun counts, it's really easy to get it with that shotgun if you get a decent spawn.

Just prefire corners, if you hear sprinting, you've most likely flashed someone.

The angle of getting flashed is 180 degrees.

@proven pagoda practice offline to learn some spots, watch some streamers who put out noob content (pestily, karmakut), and probably reset your account.
Granted, playing as a scav you can claw back not too hard. Just know where to rat. Pick up guns, disassemble them and sell em. Also customs is generally the recommended noob map. Learn the buried cache spawns and attempt to hit a few on your path. It's really not too bad, but game is definitely a bitch to start. any advice for woods? I'm a noob and I keep trying to get introduction done, but I always die before I make it to the extract.
I also only have lvl. one traders so sniper weapons are hard to get. I've tried to use inf. mosin and once I used an sks, but im absolute trash with there iron sights. I do have an op sks I got my hands on so I might just grab a glock put a scope on the op sks and go but idk if thats a good idea.

@wild musk long range weapons are usually a good idea for woods. Once you pick up the quest item try your best to stay in tree lines and places where you can take cover as you move to extract.

One need to realise that in this game you can't jus go running around hoping nothing happens to you. It's good advice to know where you spawn, where you want to extract and the path you will follo before you start even moving (I guess you do this faster as you practice, experience is a degree). Choosing the path wisely is utterly important, do you want to enter gunfights? maybe a safe raid the least risk as possible? You need to take that into account before deciding where to go. Always know your gear and your skills, you do not want to find yourself in a fight you can't win; the main goal in this game is to survive, if you kill 5 and then you die you did nothing.

I'm lvl 6, but not suffering so much (still suffering a lot, this game is also about that) because I try to stick to some basic rules. However, everything comes out of experience, try again and again and always try to learn something and change something from your previous raid failed due to a headshot. Maybe bad positioning? too noisy? everything counts.

@pure cosmos Try SCAV raiding and give priority to survive. Normally it is easier since SCAVS shouldn't one tap you and extraction points might be closer.

This should provide you with some loot and gear that you can use later in the PMC acc.

is there any way of telling with the mumble sound you make as a scav when meeting a person if that person is scav or player? i was facing someone and when i mumbled i made a friendly sound but i still got shot

does that mean that it was a hostile player scav?

tbh, I don't use that. I just try to sneek and pay attention to the way they move.

But, as far as I know, I think that SCAVS won't carry any weapon on their back (except bosses)

So, normally, when facing someone with two rifles that person is a player

Found in raid status is for items that spawn in the raid and you can leave as soon as you get enough exp for the survived status

@pure python Anything that spawns on the map to start with, or anything from ai/player scavs can be FIR, but anything from PMCs will not be... you need either 600 exp or have been in raid for 10 minutes for your things to become FIR

UNLESS youre a player scav, then everything is automatically FIR for you, you dont need to meet the 600 exp or 10 minute requirement

you cant craft 2, but the collector should keep track of how much you need for the 2nd one if you get a new filter in quick enough
