Okay, for the absolute best ammo in terms of velocity, use 995. It travels really fast and you don't have to adjust as much for shooting people at range (150+ meters), if you have to cheap out, go for M855A1. Other than that, don't bother. M856A1 is a nice tracer round but it can't consistently one-tap level 4 helmets and above. Plus, it might give away your position.

Also, yeah, what Duth said. If you can't use a good round, find a different gun.

if you want to destroy people's legs or go for headtaps, 8.5mm magnum buckshot
if you want to destroy people's armor at close range, flechettes.
if you want something that hits hard with good pen, that can also hit people at range, AP-20.

I would typically say no. Personal opinion is that helmets are not worth it in the long run. If you are using helmets and want to add armour. faceshields and chops are the big ones I would be looking at.

@zenith loom you can use the zsh but it muffles your hearing, if you only want face protection there is the shatter mask which is class 2 and high ricochet but no back head protection, there's a bunch of crap police and firefighter helmets like the kiver with faceshields but they kinda suck and mess with your hearing and are only class 2
