@tight elm the caliber you need can always be found when inspecting a weapon, you can use the caliber of the bullet to find mags that can fit. only in most cases though, some mags are top loaders and will not need other mags to reload, just bring the appropriate caliber into your pockets when you do have top loaders

I just looked and the wiki has full lists of mags compatible with each gun too. That may be your best bet
It includes stats and which trader level for each mag if you click them. Just search your gun

Also there is an important rule I was taught early on like others, It's not the gun it's the ammo that counts, in tarkov most guns can be good if you bring the right ammo, there is a spreadsheet you can find with all calibers and pen values online

Factory is low-key the easiest skav map, because the main clashes on factory happen in the first couple minutes and player skavs usually spawn with only ten minutes left. The skav exfils are also away from the PMC exfils so you can dip out pretty easily after you get some loot

@glad valve one thing to know is learn the armour types and ballistic types. In this game, the gun isnt what really matters but there are exceptions to some situations. The ballistics is what matters compared to the armour you are shooting it at
I was told you generally want relatively high pen value to flesh damage. Too much pen is a bit overkill because at that point you're trading pen for flesh damage and they are both worth accounting for
And vise versa
However if you have higher flesh damage, just aim for the legs. Theres no armour for legs so just spray at leg

@plain grove Upgrading my RAM is what made it run better for me, if you're only running 8gb of RAM, upgrade to at least 16gb. But yes having a solid state drive and putting the game on there will make it run a bit better as well, but that would mostly improve your load times.

7.62x39mm is probably the most silent caliber.
They recorded its ammo with a silencer AND subsonic ammo, instead of normal like many others.
Tho pistol rounds might be silent too.

@small prawn it's a game where you gather loot and perform tasks inside dangerous raids where you can lose everything you have on you when you die. the goal is to extract from the raid (after gathering some loot, killing the things that you encountered along the way and making your way across the map to an extraction point) and then rinse and repeat. it serves two classes of gamer personalities: hoarders and adrenaline junkies. not mutually exclusive.
The best thing you can do to learn the layout of the maps is doing offline raids with the maps open on a second screen. That and obviously raiding a bit with people who can show you around.

One good idea is to Scav run Reserve and check the three three story buildings for weapon parts only, that way you can get the foregrips you need. Then an AKM with foregrip, taclight and a PSO gives you stability, sights and light
