In general, as a scav you scavage dead bodies. Sure, you can try to take on all the scavs on factory, but depending on your loadout, you won't last.

Considering the VPO doesn't have the greatest muzzle velocity + AP has a bullet velocity of 602 m/s which is kinda low compared to other high tier ammo from different calibers (e.g: BP 7.62 has 730 m/s ) so you will probably have a hard time accounting for the bullet drop. And yeah -28% acc.

If you mean gas station there is a chance the Scav Boss spawns there so it will attract players to the location so you may be in a free for all or 1vsGroup.

ah alright well i started playing the game this wipe myself so i begun running just pistol and try to do the quests without engaging in combat and after the prime time of the raid visit high traffic areas on my way to exit to see if i can pick up some scraps from other players fire fights.

and generally picked up anything for inspection to earn the looting exp and just to sell it to traders to make leveling them easier.
as if you are starting now you will run up against more people rocking anything way above the ammo you have so the only way you may win against someone with better gear is either they don't have protection for their face, have been injured in battle and don't have the time or the resources to treat their wounds or you just get a lucky jump on them with something better then a pistol hopefully even a shotgun can mean death to a player with better equipment if you mess their legs up or commonly referred as "Leg Meta"

technically you can kill someone by shooting them in arms too as there are only some really expensive armors that cover the upper parts of your arms but you will rarely see those.

Magnum does more damage to flesh; 58x8 = 464 damage
if you hit all buckshot from one shell in one arm it is an insta kill
flechettee is 25x8 = 200 flesh damage meaning a two tap in the arms
The mossberg and m870 would benefit from magnum buckshot IMO with their tighter spread; but more power to the flechette guys with saiga's/mp153's
