no an SKS is a carbine which you can put a stock on and use standard sights but it cannot take optics even with the stock

for modding there's a rail you can place on the side that allows for the use of scopes, but generally speaking i never see anyone use a modded SKS

I used SKS a lot starting out it's a punchy way to deliver 7.62 as a rifle without the super slow fire rate of a Mosin
Kinda eclipsed by non-bolt rifles though and the reload is brutal
Clearly a low level gun, not really sure what the RUB cost on optics on it is but maybe it'd be like the rifle equivalent of a pistol run

The Vepr Hunter is a great gun that gets overlooked by beginning players sometimes I think
With the right ammo it can kill with 1 unblocked shot to the Thorax which is no joke, and it fires fairly quickly
But it sells for a couple times what an SKS does, not sure on prices but I think SKS is 10-20K RUB and Mosin and Hunter go for 40K+
I will watch for AK 74s in particular, I was picking up the Vepr AKM because I don't really miss full auto and it sells for low but AK 74 might be better, the option to go full auto can be important

7.62 is good, but has a lot of different calibers. If you got prapor LL2 (which shouldnt be too hard) you can get PP rounds at a low price point which should shred everyone except the heavy armored targets - i prefer it to PS, but its personal.

The tac laser is great for 2 reasons:
1. Just straight helps hip firing
2. Eventually helps train muscle memory for hip firing even when not using a laser

Vepr uses 7.62 ammo which is quite a bit more powerful, but its semi-auto. Your call. When it's down to semi-auto i prefer the ADAR since it's got a rail for a wide arrange of (cheap) scopes and has generally good stats.

I will try the ADAR again next session I think, I'm new so I didn't even know you had to put on the lower profile gas block in order to use sights
Not really sure how the caliber works, I guess the general idea of the ADAR caliber (NATO caliber?) is it does less damage than 7.62 but the guns handle better.

One thing I did with the laser was use the tac laser on the TT pistol reward Mechanic gives for Gunsmith and took it into factory on offline mode with Scavs on Horde mode
Just repeated that a bunch of times until I got a feel for how the hip fire "crosshair" sways when doing different player movements

Apparently the general rule of armor pen is that there's a fairly narrow range where pen works "sometimes" and outside that range armors will stop either most shots or few shots

Shotguns are frustrating, sometimes they feel great and sometimes they feel bad when you put in two close range shots and you know their armor just ate hundreds of points of damage absorbption

What I did was invest in an APB and the expensive PMM/PBM ammo that has decent armor penetration and used it like an SMG.
The ammo costs but it's worth it. Lower tier ammos are miserable vs. armor.

the mosin is fantastic but i've had more than a few occassions in a CQC battle where someone just erratically jumped around so it was hard to hit, then killed me. I also did the exact same thing vice-versa. 😛
