If you know Customs choke points, you know where to expect people. If you pop at trailer park, you know where people can be, and either avoid them or chase them. If from there you move to RUAF, you know people can come from only two spots.
If you move towards Dorms, you know they can come from only two spots as well. Gets much easier starting from there.
The key is to not waste too much time checking every spot and making sure you're safe. Being on the move and knowing where to take cover makes you survive.

A net loss is alright, the game isn't only about making a profit. And if you alternate scav runs with your PMC raids, you'll recoup your loss quickly. If you die too much or too quickly, play much slower and listen for directions of shootings and be prepared to meet someone between where you are and where the shot came from

As long as you have access to the flea market, it's interesting to check it out
For example at workbench lvl 1, you can turn 2 power cords into 8 wires

@rancid copper there isn't really any guidelines for specific systems as the game isn't optimized yet. But you want to enable only physical cores (in the game settings), enable Vsync, and you want to put the shadow distance as far as possible

Everything ultra, then take it down a notch and fine tune. You want the put maximum load on your GPU, and right now Tarkov prioritize the CPU for low level settings. For example, low shadow setting means it's being calculated by the CPU, not the GPU
