@bold kernel First thing to do is RESET EXPECTATIONS. Doesn’t matter how much or how well you do in other shooters. This is a knowledge game. You will die and die due to lack of experience not gear. Experience. It will require persistence and commitment. You need to learn maps, scav behavior, PMC behavior, what is good vs. bad ammo. Practice OFFLINE mode, with scavs on, at Customs. Try to make it from spawn to exit 10 times. IF you can do this 50% of the time then you are ready for online. Meanwhile use your scav at Interchange to get loot and learn the map.

Upgrade Workbench in Hideout. Then go to flea and examine every weapon and weapon part. That will give you full functionality of the EDIT PRESET function. You can swap parts in and out at will and the parts do not need to be in stash to use this feature as this is a “virtual build.” If you like what you made you can “save” it with a custom name and it will allow you to buy all the parts with the Assemble puzzle piece. I can't extract on customs. I can never find them. I always get fat with loot from scavs, and get doinked before I can extract because I can't find the extracts. I run along the exterior fence of the map and never run across a single one.
