First thing to do is RESET EXPECTATIONS. Doesn’t matter how much or how well you do in other shooters. This is a knowledge game. You will die and die due to lack of experience not gear. Experience. It will require persistence and commitment. You need to learn maps, scav behavior, PMC behavior, what is good vs. bad ammo. Practice OFFLINE mode, with scavs on, at Customs. Try to make it from spawn to exit 10 times. IF you can do this 50% of the time then you are ready for online. Meanwhile use your scav at Interchange to get loot and learn the map.

Akm is the modernized ak47. M typically stands for modernized. The N stands for night scope but really it just means there's a dovetail there for optics. S Stands for wire stock / folding stock. U is basically paratrooper shorty barrel/folding stock. B is suppressed variant. AK 74M is the modernized AK74. 74M is the ak100. All ak100 series rifles come with a dovetail and folding stock and have more accurate barrels. Ak100 rifles have long and short variants as well. AK101 (556 long) and ak102 (556 short), ak103 (7x39 long) and ak104 (7x39 short), Ak74m (545 long) and ak105 (545 short).

I did my 30 scav kills in interchange with 3m armor quest with that gun. It's fun sure. But you run up against a faceshield and armor and you're dead. Relies on headshots for kills.

@warm pollen i've had 4 friends start playing recently. I've been gearing them up with lvl 4 armor, decent but not amazing guns (with ammo that pens around lvl 4), and meds/gear. I found its best to get them comfortable killing scavs and surviving before doing quests and stuff.
