@dense sorrel You need to have a weapon (pistol or primary) and a vest/backpack. If you go without a gun, or without any kind of rig or backpack, the scavs are aggro'd onto you upon spawn

@cerulean cape early armors don't really stop anything at all. maybe from scavs and their bad ammo, but almost every PMC will carry good enough ammo to penetrate level 2/3 armor. A tactical rig like the 6B5 uley will provide level 3 armour + a rig for you, good price to have a rig and armour at once, usually around 30-40k depending on durability. level 4 is iffy due to low durability and some being near the price point of level 5 but if I'm going for a decent run i'd either use the redut-M for like 50k or a GZHEL for 80-90k, theyre class 4 and class 5 respectively
