I'm having some trouble crafting SP-6 ammo, whenever I try to craft it it says I need 3600 hp ammo, 60 green gunpowders and 60 xenos to craft it. Is there a way to fix this? I thought you only need one of each plus 60 hp?

Yes it's worth it. Selling it is guaranteed profit, the scav box is a gamble.
Sometimes you get less, sometimes you get a red keycard and it pays off huge.

@cunning pilot First thing to do is RESET EXPECTATIONS. Doesn’t matter how much or how well you do in other shooters. This is a knowledge game. You will die and die due to lack of experience not gear. Experience. It will require persistence and commitment. You need to learn maps, scav behavior, PMC behavior, what is good vs. bad ammo. Practice OFFLINE mode, with scavs on, at Customs. Try to make it from spawn to exit 10 times. IF you can do this 50% of the time then you are ready for online. Meanwhile use your scav at Interchange to get loot and learn the map.

@glad sequoia The only things you do to work towards quests as a Scav is gather any non quest-specific items (like barter stuff, weapons, etc.). Any other objectives need to be done as a PMC.

INterchange is maybe less per run, but safer, so I get that consistently, while Reserve is maybe more, but also more likely to die (more players, Raiders, etc)
