and some mods (like lasers/foregrips/scopes) and whatnot, require certain mounts (2/4/6mm mounts) to be put on the gun

and then unlocking workbench lvl 1
you can then rightclick ur weapon in ur stash and click "edit presets"
it then shows you all the options you have for that gun from the items you examined

i wouldn't further upgrade it till you have way more money
workbench allows modding to be easier (through menus and helps learning modding)

How exactly does Weapon modding work? My understanding is that when selecting the gun -> Edit Preset, it will load the weapon in its current state into the modding window where I can basically add all known and available mods. E.g. I wanna add a sight, I just add the mount and the desired sight and afterwards I select "Find parts" but I can´t select any option to use any available parts in my stash and it seems it will show me also parts for the weapon on the flea which are already installed

you can select modding if you have a workbench ready in hideout , also you could put parts to the gun itself (double click or press inspect )

So just because someone sees you doesnt mean they will spare you. Personally the way I roll, is by leaving no survivors. Having a hatchling pick up a scavs weapon can become a danger for you later on

Within the "edit preset" window you can build anything you want as long as you have the parts examined.
I always recommend going to flea (once you get it) and examining every weapon and weapon part. Then Edit Preset works to it's fullest .
