Customs is usually the starter map because it has the first quest to compete. That also means there is always PMCs and you will get into a lot of gunfights.

Interchange is good for loot -> is mostly inside multiple big supermarkets/IKEA and a mall.
Customs -> Mostly outside, pretty straight forward map, not that great in terms of loot
Shoreline -> Outside and Inside, lots of loot in village or resort.
Customs is the map for quests, but you'll prob encounter players faster there than on other maps

Also with groups. Unless you are all super experience with coms, or incredibly comfortable with knowing what each other look like. Its better to keep them small
And shoreline is easy to figure out. Lots of great landmarks. Just pull up a map and you should be okay :)
