some quest items go into the top part automatically when you pick them up. after raid you can move them to the bottom part

the only benefit of doing that is so you don't have to continue a quest right away

Since bodies have inertia with their ragdoll, I typically try to nail them from the side so they'll fall over to the side and not just ragdoll backwards.
