I'm deciding if i want to buy EFT and I was curious how the matchmaking is. As in, is it pretty quick to get into a game most of the time. And are you able to squad up with random people or is it friends only? Seems like a fun game, but I don't like playing games alone all the time and most of my gaming friends play PS4.

@gloomy trout It is around 2 minutes to get in to a game I'd say, you can squad up with randoms if you wish, but it is at your own risk, nothing stopping them turning round and shooting you, so be careful. There are plenty of good solid groups/clans out there though, so you should always have someone to raid with

If you are enjoying it solo, no need to change I'd say, group play can be a blast, as long as your squad mates don't get confused and kill lol, solo is easier in that respect, shoot anyone lol

and @austere imp it doesnt necessarily blind you but you have a very very hard time seeing, youd have to be rediculously close to blind someone or use more than one light, in an average room people will usually shoot at the light meaning youre a little less likely to be landed a headshot on

basically no one knows where to use that key, currently keys exist intended to unlock safes which aren't locked in the first place. It is likely that this is a key to some safe on shoreline which is not even locked rn.

It depends, some times trader levels remain, or mastering skills, this is information released with the pre patch logs etc, but yes you will always lose your in-game gear, everyone back to their edition starter kits

@sick swift later on, there will be penalities handed out by the traders, so you will ruin your standing with them if you go rampage, bears and usec then need to fight together as well as scavs, but that "karma" system is still far away from now

One thing I like to do, if you get pinned down in a building or something, one of you use meds while the other covers, sometimes the enemy will try and rush you as they think you are alone and using meds, then nice easy kill. Another one I like to do in buildings, have one get in a position to aim in/out of the room, while the other opens/closes the door.

In all serious though, it just takes time, learning the mechanics of the game, maps, weapons, ammo, meds, high traffic areas etc. We all started off getting wasted a lot, the game is very punishing to start. Take it slow, listen to your surroundings, everything your character does can be heard by the enemy, just remember that

Starting off playing as a scav can be good as you have nothing to lose by doing so, but then you don't get any XP for your PMC either, so it is personal preference really. I don't really play as a scav myself

No worries. Once you start playing with different weapons/loadouts and just having a laugh, the gear fear will go, if you can get some nice kills with a low level pistol or shotgun, you'll always be able to get some gear back, plus there is the scav runs to get some bits if needed

I also believe if you have nothing left in your stash, Prapor will send you a AKS-74U to help get you going again
