How does one explain my bad luck as a PMC in Tarkov? Every single time I killed people as a scav, I never got ambushed while looting a scav I shot a couple of minutes before looting... But it happens to me just then as I was playing as a PMC, and there had to be a fucking player in short grass near me I somehow missed... Is there even much benefit of being a PMC?? :/

Unfortunately, I have to play as one to do Prapor's first task so I'm rather fucked.. I get killed every single time I play as a PMC so what the fuck.

Also as scav you spawn later so some players might already be dead. As PMC you spawn at the same time as the others, so your chance of encountering someone is higher

Yeah I know its got a front sight, but it also has threading which is what I meant. However, you sure? Because I got a muzzle brake made for the Mosin and I couldn't put it on that barrel.

Anyone notice that scav grenades explode as soon as they reach you? I just loaded into Interchange and got insta'd by Killa. I killed one of his friends, heard him shout and died before he even stopped speaking. Grenade, I saw it. As soon as I saw it, it exploded, no chance to hit the floor and bounce. Just right in my face. Impossible to dodge. wtf is that

I was in cover, too, after taking out the initial scav. So frustrating to get insta'd by a scav who can't even see me, but know's where I am because his mate got a bullet in the back of the head

I'm not sure how long his initial shout is (when he first spots you,) but I died to his grenade before he finished it. Pretty sure it's not up to 4.2 seconds long, which is the longest a grenade fuse can be in game?

It's not the first time either. I've had it happen many times. As soon as I see the grenade right in my face it explodes. No chance, ever, to run from a grenade you don't see until it explodes.

@misty shard It´s never 100% accurate. EFT´s simulation of firearms is very extensive. The game simulates parallax and zeroing as well as the barrel to sight difference. Many factors play a role when firing. You will have the best results if you hold down your breath because that gets rid of most of the parallax. By that it is accurate enough to take shots at up to 500 meters in game. Angle, height differences and distance also do get taken into account.

Besides that, I should mention that bullet drop is currently broken and will be fixed as well and be more realistic. Zeroing also isn´t working as intended right now. But those things will be looked into later on since the system works fine around 100 meters (and that is where like 95% of the games firefights happen)

That is just realistic, it´s when the operator is not holding the gun perfectly straight, but IRL it´s much easier to get a grasp how accurate your shot will be since in 3D you can actually see if you aren´t holding the gun straight while in game you think you are right on target but you´re holding the weapon slightly wrong

my tip for you is, if you need to be fast, don´t hold your breath, it will be accurate enough for chestshots under 75 meters, but if you have to be accurate always hold your breath and you are going to be fine if you zeroed in properly

I mainly am looking for a 2 slot thing, or I else I usually stop looting and move on, because there could be gunpowder inside. Anyone have any tips with how to survive as PMC? I've been playing scav for about a month trying to get good, but every time I play as a PMC I get annihilated by both players and AI.

To be honest @quick barn it just takes playing it, learning the maps, the high traffic areas etc. If you want you can request a Sherpa and we will play some raids with you, show you some tips etc

Perhaps I just have to wait ~30 minutes so all the people that actually know what they are doing can go through the map and leave, because that seems to be the only difference between Scav and PMC spawning, scavs spawning mid-way though the match

Also doesn't help with the 10 minute cooldown for scav playing :/

When I started playing I just picked one map and played the shit out of it until I know it well enough, then another map and so on. This game is designed to be played as a group, there are loads out there all over the world, some really good ones. I play with several groups from time to time. Sound is a big factor in EFT, so if you can get used to using one of the headsets you will hear footsteps etc clearer and at a further distance, everyone has their own favourite but for me it is the ComTac 2, I find that the easiest to hear with

My tip would be to play with others (if possible experienced players) and ask yourself after ech death why you died and how do you want to prevent it next time

I would do that Sardukk, however the only information I have in most cases when I die is who by, and where I was at the time. It says what limbs were hurt but that doesn't really help me
I haven't got enough cash to keep buying headsets, and I don't have anyone to play with due to the game being so expensive at the current time. I'm not interested in finding a public group.

Getting to the exit is a massive issue in most cases too, due to it being on the other side of the map, and it is usually covered by someone

I you don't want to play with others then the only thing left is keep grinding at it until you improve really, learning the routes people take, the tasks specific areas also will help. Maybe check out some YouTube guides etc too.

I don't play as a scav ever to be honest, it doesn't level my PMC in anyway so it seems kinda pointless to me. I play PMC to complete the tasks and take my own load out etc

Idk, but PMC level seems redundant to me at the moment due to my inability to get anywhere, I've levelled the stores up to tier 2, but most of the stuff is too expensive to keep throwing away.
I've been trying to do the tasks, only the ones where I don't have to survive I've done so far, I'm trying to do the mission where I have to get a document in customs, then exit, but I've died each time so far.

Well the times I get killed by scavs is when they shoot me from cover a few buildings over, I can't see them from that distance unless they have their torches on, the PMCs usually find me first and mow me down with suppressed automatic fire

@quick barn Well I never play when tilted, take a small break then play later if im in a mood. Also because you have a quest somewhere doesnt mean you should rush blind there. Check your surroundings and move between cover. Also on quests that need you to put something somewhere or collect stuff etc, I do night raids just for the extra cover and the less players

@foggy yoke It's a pretty broad question, that can depend based on the situation. Do you have the basics down? Map layout, general spawn locations, when to expect players and where. Are you communicating effectively with teammates? Are you staying static during engagements or are you being proactive via throwing nades, falling back and re-engaging from a different angle? Do you need to work on your aim? Are you out geared and lack the correct ammo or aren't aiming for the face?

It's a tough question to answer since there's a lot that can go wrong in tarkov, haha

Right now it's also a tough time to start in Tarkov since most guys are going to be geared, this late in the wipe.

#

Spawn locations help since you can generally know where players are and can estimate where and when you'll see someone towards the beginning. If you're mainly the ones getting ambushed try switching up your playstyle. I tend to be more on the slow side and constantly look around (I mainly solo though, since most of my friends are waiting for updates) 11.7 is confirmed wipe, then there will be another with .12

I'm not sure what more you can do then. There's almost always something to be learned from a death though.

@foggy yoke You may consider popping painkillers BEFORE losing limbs so that your gun doesn't start swinging wildly the moment you get in a firefight. For PMCs, my biggest advise is to wear comtacs. On many maps, comtacs are better than having a face visor. As far as dealing with the players, I recommend the AKMS if you're on a budget. PS round can punch visors really well, and it's full auto. The TT01 rearsight device for it is really cheap, gives an amazing sight picture, and lets you throw on most 1x optics if you find them in raid.

With PC, I use them if I have a second during/before a fight, because there's a good likelihood I'll regret not using them. They also increase your vision contrast, which make spotting enemies marginally easier, but that's not quite as worth it.
The way I see it, spending 1200 RUB or so (one use of Analgin) can save you 40k of gear and 100k of what you could have gotten by winning 😛

If ANYTHING gets blacked you should try to be on painkillers for the rest of the raid, as your weapon sway/etc... goes through the roof

You can't, the sensitivities are set.
Most frustrating with the scopes that have a 1x mode. If not for the sensitivity lock they'd be the best sights in the damn game.

@violet mica I did the same thing a few days back expecting the wipe to be coming earlier. I''ve just done a couple Labs runs and came out with guns and armour to use. Just avoid the big open areas and keep yours eyes peeled and you should be able to take down a pair of raiders

Now back to 300k with about 6 high tier weapons to use. Armour is crap but it stops the raiders insta-gibbing me

If it's a hard wipe, absolutely everything is reset to default.
If it's a soft wipe, you lose all your gear and player levels, but might keep vendor levels/skill levels

Well as a first tip friendo: Un-learn anything you've got from Siege or Division, learn to take the game low and slow, only take shots you're absolutely sure you can hit unless you're in a firefight and suppressing someone.

Yeah, sort of assumed that would be a given especially with the whole structure of the game. Learned a lot from Rainbow as far as shooting goes compared to other games like COD and Battlefield. I like the realistic feel of games like ARMA so this is no different

It's also much more different than ArmA due to how the game treats armor, health, medical supplies, and different types of ammunition.

Just keep in mind that this game is still in Beta, you will lose gear to lag, glitches, getting hit by things that shouldn't have killed you, etc. Don't get discouraged, just accept that you got Tarkov'd and keep on trucking.

yeah man the scavs let you get a free set of gear that you sell for cash if you escape.... that's it 😃

and you can make "safer" runs such as along the edges of maps just trying to avoid major choke points and loot spots where people will be sniping

Before Trooper I wore paca and ghzl for my sniper raids.

Don't expect it to save you from much, but it gives you a second chance against some scavs and pistolings.

It depends on your ammo, aim, opponent and location. If you have BS/M995 and up, you generally want to go for the head or chest.

RK-1/RK-2 are fairly justified, I would say. But there are of course more cost effective options.

Tbh faceshields are kinda meh, most are class 3 or below unless it's altyn or maska, and most higher end rounds easily punch through class 3
