Anyone know how to deal with the RFB and how it doesn't shoot where your reticle is? At all distances, the bullet is way below the scope reticle so that means I'd need to aim the gun and shoot above their head to get headshots even in CQC

For armour, scavs commonly have the 6B13 on them, it's class 4 and covers lots of areas. You could just use a PACA until you kill something for a better armour or level up more

Headsets you have the M32s or the GSH, I prefer the M32s at the start, Sordins and XCEL are my favourite after getting flea market

Kirasa is pretty sleeper, you can put lots of different plates in it and it covers all of the important parts with soft aramid inserts, it won't stop a large round but it's class 2 so most shotguns and smg ammos it could save you against, my personal favourites have been the Kirasa, 6B43 Assault and the ANA M1

And traders sell all different kinds of plates if you linked search your armour you can see everything that will fit in it, you can put in whatever you want, or you could be a gremlin like my friend and only use a PACA and steal other peoples armour

You want armour that covers as much of your character as possible, plates are useful for tanking a round or two but it's the shotgun scavs from 200 metres that will get you

1 MULE for when heavy

*1 eTG for when i plan to do some heavier PvP (if no PvP then dont need it)

1: you can still hit their torso with low pen ammo and they weraing armor since the armor plates dont cover the whole torso and the soft armor if its there usually is level 2 or at max 3 so shooting center mass with low pen ammo can work out but is not the most reliable way
2: they are for some people shotguns are still effective in cqb even with buckshot since the armor now covers less than before so you might be able to hit some unprotected areas and for smgs its similar and since faceshields are still kinda rare you can also go for the head half of the time
3: depends more on the ammo one caliber i can recommend atm is the 5.45 since you can find alot of decent ammo like PS or PP spread all over the world so getting a couple of hundred rounds of 5.45 isnt too difficult so the AKS-74U(N) is okayish and the N variant you are also able to attach the PSO-1 (4x) scope if you remove the dust cover or any other 5.45x39mm AK for that matter

Yes, it is possible, you can find good ammo in-raid. There are areas of a player character's chest that are not protected and you can shoot at that as if there is no armour at all. Also face, neck, stomach and legs are all viable options. SMG and Shotguns are in the best place they have been in a very long time due to this, it is all viable if you can aim your weapon. Good weapons early on are the AKS-74U, MP-153/5, MP5, SKS and Mosin. Your access to decent tiers of ammo are quite limited early on but once you learn some maps you'll find it's very easy to come across quite high tier ammo and weapon attachments.

there are some places where fuel cans can spawn you have to look for them tho and they have a chance to spawn so most of the time theres nothing there or buy/barter them from traders/flea market
