Depends on the range you're going for. Opsks (Jaeger) with a sight (prapor), ppsh with drum mags (prapor), and mosin (prapor) are all available off the bat and decent options if you know how to use them.

Once you hit PK2, the ump is a great beginners gun due to it being easy to kit out and how controllable the recoil is

You can buy from level one traders, depending on your edition some of them will be locked or unlocked. He may not be able to afford much or have much unlocked.

Always remember that ammo is way more important than guns, so choose guns based on what ammo you can buy.
Early on your best options are:
UMP-45s (buy Knives at Fence and trade to Peacekeeper) with FMJ is the best option, but the most costly,

Mosin from Prapor with LPS is great if you like bolt actions,

KEDR-B with PSV or PPSH with LRNPC are both good for close-range high-damage guns you can spray legs or face with.

If you can find good 545 or 762x39 then those are also options.

How do you even go about killing the goons for part 4 of the terra group

I've tried 4 times and every single time, night or day, I start getting shot from like 200 meters away and I can't even see them

try approach from the village to the shack west of the cottage

they were on that side that raid and we got shot at. I tried to run around to the north side and as i was going to head in, big pipe swung from inside and i died instantly

after you reach that shack, try to get inside the cottage and throwing flash to cottage area, and then get in to cottage that can open without a key

or if night time, try kill them with thermal weapon from bus station

like for a lot of bosses, u have to find cover, aggro, and wait for them to rush you
ideally u do this with a closed door so u can see them clip through the door and u can wallbang them

for bossed as aggresive as the goons, u can just aggro and wait for them to sprint at u
on customs u would just run around in crack house and they would sprint straigjt at u from stronghold, similar story here

there are a few landmarks u can use
theres a big mountain in the north, use this to orient yourself
theres also sniper rock in the middle-right if the map, u can use both the mountain and the sniper rock to orient yourself (running with mountain to ur back to sniper rock is south)
u can also see factory/customs on the east
oh and if u see any mines, theyre to the west, so running along them with the mines on ur left is north, running along with the mines on your right is south, and running straight out away from them is east

And also always wear a face cover (basic balaclava from ragman), it makes your face less shiny to other players, easier to blend in. It also makes scavs less likely to shoot you in the face

Head into a practice mode on one of those maps, toggle on some AI scavs, and try to get a feel for the map, movement, gunplay, scav killing, etc.
When you're ready - try to scav into one of those maps and actually get some loot out.
Then you can take your PMC in and try to do some quests or loot or simply survive.
Good luck - you will die, try to have fun with it
