Best advice I ever took was to focus on one map. Learn spawns, high-traffic areas, good spots to loot and then move from there. Loads of early quests on customs. A good map to learn 🙂 Not too big either

Could have been a boss's minion, corrext me if im wrong but i think your scav rep has to be above 6 to stop this from happening, may have been too close to boss so you got aggro from him and his guards

There is a boss spawn on factory "Tagilla" guy with the welding mask he aggros to scavs all the time unless above 6 rep, else he shoots on sight after voiceline and if you get too close, this also applies if you get too close to a wall that he is standing near on otger side, he can still be triggered

it's a difference in ammo used, modding options and how to go about modding them, and stats
as well as how accessible it is to get the mods and ammo generally
for the most part, the bear guns are easier to mod and easier to find ammo for, but the mp5 is better than the pp-19 and usec has the rogue thing
overall, you'll find roughly as much success with either or

there's a few cons to not bringing any gun at all
you'll be "tagged and cursed" if you bring too minimal gear; causing Scavs to hunt you down if you get too close
and you won't be able to defend yourself to a scav with a simple pistol
same goes with armor; even PACA lvl 2 is better than nothing; as it can kinda absorb buckshot pellets at range
if you have trouble getting money for guns, you can always use guns you found in your Scav runs; make sure to repair them so they don't jam on you as easily
