For these, because nobody but you knows where you're at in terms of quests or hideout, or what barters/crafts you're trying to save for, you have 2 options. It's otherwise impossible to know, without significant experience or asking other people every time, what you'll need anytime soon, or what sells for substantial money to other players.
Option 1) Set a particular goal - maybe two or three hideout upgrades you want and get your list of like 5-10 items together. Sell everything else. This is the most "to hell with inventory management" approach, and you'll certainly sell things that you'll need again or could have sold for more, but you'll spend much more of your time in-raid.
Option 2) Check everything using https://tarkov-market.com/ and the info it provides for quest/hideout/barter/crafting requirements and for flea prices. Then you can decide what things you'll need soon enough, and which items sell for enough, to hold onto. This is quicker in the long run and more profitable, but is tedious.

Whats a good rule of thumb for choosing the strongest ammo at low levels? For exmaple for the vpo my options are EKO, FMJ, 39 ps
p.s seems like the obvious best in this case

Get into the habit of hotkeying your meds instead of putting them in your bag, having to go into your inventory adds unnecessary noise. Especially during a fight, the CMS can stay in the bag but your calok/afak minimum imo should be in your pocket hotkeyed

It unfortunately happens. You unlock the ability to purchase them relatively early into your tasking
But if you're mid fight. You will have to worry about ducking into a corner and making noise in your inventory to pop a med
People will hear that noise and know its time to push hard + try to use the calok for heavy bleeds as a higher priority than your afaks as they take an unnecessary chunk of their durability.
Which they are in your bag as it stands, so it makes no difference to hotkey the calok

I'd go against that tbh. Atleast with the small meds they got the ability to pull one or two out for the valuable loot

strip the gun till there's nothing left
but you will still see the trigger mechanism
