Here some important advice

• Come there prepared with a fresh install / fresh vm with all the tool you need, make sure all your tools are correctly install and working. Nothing worse than spending an hours installing / debugging a tool. Like you may be used to Burp, but if that one day, when you need Burp, its not working…
• Make a step by step list of action to take when doing recon, to quickly do a triage, for different category of challenge. Faster you do a sorting/triage, the faster you can tackle challenge you can easily solve, and keep the challenging for the end.
• Also have a step by step list for solving different kind of challenge. Often the methodology is similar for different challenge in the same topixc

One time i went to a ctf, with my new computer, and couldn’t get ghidra to work, it was awful the amount of time i spent troubleshooting tool i am used to

Without knowing exactly your current background and how you want to specialize/goal, its hard to do any recommendation

cybersecurity is a vast domain. Even pen testing can mean different things. Some could want to focus more on web, other on attacking active directory, other are interested in binary exploitation, but for many, pentesting is just a generic buzz word cause they are new and don’t really know the field, where they want to specialize

But more often than not, you don’t want to pay for private mentoring cause its expensive, and its better reserve for specific niche purpose (ex; you get private class on advanced forensic, and want to have one of the best as your teacher to learn advanced technic)

More often than not, all you need is available in books, and learning site like thm, tcm security, rootme, hackthebox, letsdefend

Its more about choosing a platform, setting some realistic goal, and to work on it on a regular basis, and expending your knowledge beyond what the platform give you with extra research on internet.

And avoid passive learning, get involved and try assignement/laboratory

TryHackMe already try to push you in doing a little bit everyday with the daily streak. Gamification is a powerful tool to learn

My theory is that they could have cloned your sim card / phone? OR they have inserted a backdoor / malware on your phone depending on what make and model it is.

I had a strange message before I left the country, from someone near my home. He said I gave him my number but I never did. Someone gave him my number and I am not sure why. I had to block him.

The worse part here in the UK is that they have a privacy law but it's not being put into effective use. Yesterday I got a text message telling me that I qualify for the government heating subsidy. I look closely at the number and it's not the government as they would never send messages like this on a random number. It's usually under .gov.uk or something close to that.

Not really. Crime is everywhere and one time I stopped at the traffic lights on my way to work at 5:30am, I got attacked by a guy and it was a good thing I had my doors locked and windows shut. He was banging on my car like some deranged man and giving me a evil eye. . I reported it and nothing was done about it.
