It's hard quitting knowing that you don't have a reason and that you'll only see the negative benefits.
You can try slowly quitting, i.e. going from *for example 5 a week to 3, then 1 then none. Or you can replace it with coffee as it's a 'healthier' alternative. Or you can quit and switch to decaf like me.
I would 100% a sober partner if possible though. A lot of it does come down to self disipline and I would argue I have a good amount because of going to gym regularly

Don't expect that you will make tons of friends with your interests. You might or might not but it's better to reduce your expectations.
If physical meets are not an option for you, join communities and talk to people. Telegram, discord, reddit etc. When you get older (assuming you're young) you'll find that it's easier cause you'll have more money and be able to go further.
I don't really have an interest in meeting cyber people so it's easier for me to make friends.
Biggest advice is don't feel bad if you don't make a friend and assuming you're young, you probably care quite a lot about who the person is, their interests etc.

That's okay, I was in your position once. I suffered quite bad anxiety. I forced myself into scary situations and made friends. It's not the same for everyone though and you probably don't want to do that.
If you can't meet people through social media, just wait and make friends as you go through life. You're young and have a lot ahead of you. Eventually you'll start going out to parties etc. and make friends.
