Interesting idea, not sure if it'll catch on but they ploughed a lot of money into it (they hired out the Etihad Stadium for the final)

qualifiers were online between around 60 university teams, around 10 web based challenges to hack

top 10 unis made it to the final in the etihad stadium, and the grand final was played on stage in front of an audience (~350 people) with commentary

there were definitely quite a few technical issues but it was an interesting competition
