You have to set up a listener before you trigger a reverse shell, connect openvpn inside the vm always and keep the tab running and when you want to close, Ctrl+c the tab neatly

Hello community, I am a beginner in EH and trying to do some rooms on THM. I have encountered an issue with VPN connection, respectivelly with my tun0 interface. I followed the Open VPN room and successfully connected to the THM VPN. Yet in some tasks I am supposed to use the IP address that is assigned to my tun0 interface. Having checked ip addr cmd on my virtual machine running Kali on VirtualBox, I can see only lo and eth0 interface. I suppose that many of you might have encountered the same connectivity issue. I dug into the forum and found no advice for this issue. Might it be some config issue with my VM and VPN? Do you have any advice?

TO ADD: While on my Kali, I can ping the machine with positive outcome, yet I am unable to run an exploit in the Metasploit room or make netcat to listen in the Vulneversity room.

Note - I was banging my head trying to fix this, thought I'd pass this along to help others.

Issue - The newest version of VirtualBox-6.1.14-140239 for MacOS Catalina has a bug that aborts Linux VMs when it attempts to check audio permissions with CoreAudio, ICH AC97 enabled. I haven't fully tested with SoundBlaster 16 or Intel HD Audio, enabling them doesn't crash the Linux VMs. Windows VMs don't seem to be effected.

Resolution - Disable the audio in the Linux VMs settings. Try using the SoundBlaster 16 or Intel HD Audio if you need audio.

Linux works with no issues however my windows 10 VM is not connected to the internet and when I hover on the network connection icon in the task bar it reads no network connection and when I click on on it no wifi connections are discoverable. hey all

I'm having some trouble getting burp suite to not intercept out-of-scope requests

I've added my target host to my scope with advanced scope options

#

I've checked the "AND URL" rules for client / server intercept rules

#

and I'm using FoxyProxy on Firefox

#

basically, Burp will intercept ALL requests to all hosts, not just my target

#

I mentioned this to someone in voice chat and they also had the same issue

In your Target/Scope panel, do you only have your target or maybe there are previous targets that remain from previous sessions?

im having some technical difficulty with the OWASP Juice Shop Room. i can ping the machine but when i http to it i get nothing back, it just spins, even without the burp proxy enabled. I also nmapped it and see it open on port 80. I did the previous burpsuite room and had no issues with the site in that room, could something be wrong on the machine i got for this room?

Having 2 vpn tunnels can really confuse your PC as the two vpn can keep colliding. It is somewhat similar to why you can't have two web servers both running on a same port, your router can sometimes follow the best route according to it, sometimes drop the connection causing an unstable connection. Same thing happens when you have duplicate openvpn instances @pearl vine

So I just started vulnversity but when I do the gobuster (or even try dirbuster) I get errors that make me think my instance can’t find the deployed machine. I’m using a kali vm that is updated and working otherwise... am I just overlooking something simple? Openvpn is up and the THM machine is deployed successfully.

the only issue i have with this is im trying to do the learn linux room and the putty ssh wont work and it mentions how the only reason for this is that you aint connected to the vpn
