Having issues connecting to the tmux room in the Linux Fundamentals playlist. I have googled the error but am not finding a solution (screenshots to follow). Confirming I am connected to VPN prior to SSH'ing to the room's IP

Unclear if anything needs to be put here, I've tried a few things, and tried entering nothing as well

When you terminate a VM, all changes are lost

Then when you deploy again, it's a completely fresh copy of the VM

I accidently killed the terminal on which openvpn is running. I thought it would just die without a controlling terminal but it still exist in the memory. tun0 interface still shows up with ifconfig. Does that mean openvpn has hangup signal handling? What do I do now kill it and run it again or let it stay there?

that error, secure connection failed, is due to it not running a secure protocol (https)

if youre getting that, youre probably connected, youre just using the wrong protocol (http vs https)

that will happen on regular websites too, not just these boxes if you try to do https when they arent using ssl

as owly boi said, the in browser machine is already on the network and so doesnt need the vpn, but thats the only time you wouldnt need it

Yeah, I'm just running through the "Learn Linux" room and there you are kind of expected to be connection from your own computer. Just a small addition in the tutorial about having to be connected would be a strong move imo.

You will only get a web page when there's a webserver running on that machine, and when it's running on port 80

So been working on trying to get the ovpn through the OpenVPN and all I keep getting is the error of opening configuration file, in the command line in the terminal... I know where it is, I try to get it to work but keep failing... There must be s logical solution as to why it's not working...

It's the config file being where you say it is

im using expressVPN, not sure if thats a factor. I had the VPN on while I was using the kali machine the first time and it didn't have an issue

and I turned the VPN off and tried it again, still didn't work

Picture a timer. Every time you answer a question, it sets the timer to 24 hours.

It works in my Windows host using putty, but not ssh in cmd/powershell, or in my Kali vm using ssh in terminal. I can ping the machine though, and am connected to the network using openvpn.

hi - I'm in the common linux privsec room and stuck at a particular point using my in-browser /subscriber Kali VM. I'm running the msfvenom command as listed in Task 8 Step 4 but get an error message about 'bundler' failing to load. Any advice you can share?

I was initially running it just from the terminal as root@kali - the difference is you are running it on a ssh session. However, if I run it from the common lunix room box I get an msfvenom not found error back instead. I'm sure this is my mistake on where to run this msfvenom command from. Should I be doing another room to learn more and then come back to this later?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to run an eternalblue exploit, the machine seems vulnerable, but the session creation always failed ... I tried re-run the exploit several times (at least 10) and redeploy the machine, but I'm still facing the issue ... Hi, I am trying to do the room Metasploit. I have set the LHOST to the IP shown in tun0 and I have set the RHOSTS to the IP of the machine that I have deployed. When I run the command exploit, it hangs at
