I think I have a similar issue to others, the little tab and pop out section etc for the clipboard just doesn't exist so copying and pasting in the side by side view just doesn't work. I'm catching up on the advent challenge thing and currently on task 14 - the attack machine includes the tab etc but the windows machine doesn't have it at all. I've tried restarting the virtual machine thing and closed / reopened the browser and it makes no difference. Feels like a bug potentially?

dont uswe the side by side for rdp, use remmina app on the attackbox to RDP into the target machine

do you mean you managed to terminate the target VM?
if so, it comes a bit as a surprise to me, as I was expecting the problem to be with THM infrastructure on AWS
about fixing it with Firefox, I have no idea: it would be experimenting with whatever comes to mind:

• clear cache (but I think you did that already):
• check for error messages in DevTools Console
• see whether you get something done in Private mode vs. a normal instance
• check your clock as per this message from Scrubz: #site-support message

I feel like an idiot - but maybe someone can help me: WSL Kali and Kali in Hyper-V - used to be able to connect to Openvpn simply. Haven't used THM ovpn for better part of a year and something changed. Used to sudo openvpn configfile.ovpn and presto... Windows host will connect to THM OpenVPN no problem, but for some reason tun0 isn't getting created in either instance of Kali. THM helper script says tun0 missing. Do I just need to manually create tun0? It just used to work....

Currently in the Moniker Link room, successfully ran python3 exploit.py after editing the attack box and the mailserver on line 12 and line 31 respectively, after saving and running the exploit and entering the password attacker it sends succesfully. I then click the click me option on the received email but get the following error:

When i'm using the attack box on my MacOS using edge brower (though it does this in all browser so far for me) when I try to get the menu bar on the right to show up (by moving my mouse to the right of the screen) it takes me forever to get it to show up so I can switch back and forth between browser/terminal/burp etc. Is there any quick fix for this issue that anyone is aware of? I have messed around with the linux settings for a bit but so far haven't been successful and it really hinders my workflow

Anyone have issues with NetworkManager being hella strict on trying AES-256-CBC instead of AES-256-GCM no matter if you configure the *.ovpn file or NetworkManager itself to support/enforce either way? VPN seems to work just fine with sudo openvpn <file> which seems to negotiate AES-256-GCM automatically that way, but no matter what I do I always get

Error: negotiated cipher not allowed - AES-256-CBC not in AES-256-GCM:AES-128-GCM:CHACHA20-POLY1305

when I import the *.ovpn file into NetworkManager UI (in Kali). Even if I go into advanced settings in my imported VPN connection and strictly set AES-256-GCM, restart NetworkManager, it still just complains about AES-256-CBC not being supported...what the heck is going on?

(also, I've tried to download *.ovpn files for both US West Regular and US West VIP, both same results)

gah, finally got the above to work. Here's what I did if helps anyone searching for solutions:

after editing my imported VPN with sudo vim /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/<redacted>.nmconnection, then doing this exact change:

It seems the fix for NetworkManager in my case was to explicitly add/allow AES-256-CBC for this specific VPN connection after it gets imported. No matter what I did to try to enforce AES-256-GCM didn't work, it always negotiated to CBC otherwise 🤷 .

I suspect this has something to do with newer NetworkManager versions deprecating AES-256-CBC, but I didn't spend enough time on that to be confident on what else is going on, I'm just happy I'm working.

Sometimes, when site is telling me to paste some (a bit longer) into the attack box I have to rewrite it which means missing letters or signs like ; or spaces etc.
Is that normal on the site or is it just me?

Not sure where to post this as this is my first time commenting in the discord (been a THM member for a while though), but the MISP room was giving me some slight troubles. I wanted to see if it was me so I tried other rooms and the issues I was having were not present in any other room.

Main issue was whenever I would view another tab or even go to my note taking app and then come back to the MISP page, it would take a couple of seconds before I could have any of my input (scrolling, typing, highlighting, etc.) register. Seemed to increase CPU and memory usage. Not sure what it was as even in rooms with similar amounts of .gif's and what not, haven't experienced this. Still doable, just slow.

Wanted to bring this up in case someone else was having the same issue or just to bring it to light. Again, the issue seems to be localized to just that room for me and not major, but rather mildly annoying

I open up the in browser VM using the start machine button but nothing happens once the machine loads in Split View. I just get a blank screen. I've been trying to log in to the website all day through multiple browsers over both phone and laptop, I've cleared history multiple times and restarted even more often, the login page continually refreshes on me after inputting my login information without taking me to the two factor authentication screen. If you can connect to 10.10.10.10 it means you're in the internal network. Your PC is the AttackBox, and the TargetMachine (the start machine) is usually the address you need to SSH into

I have regenerated the file, switched servers, but nothing works

Why are you using different IP everytime ? It takes up to 10min for this machines to boot-up. If you terminate them that often they probably don't even get the chance to fully boot-up 🙂

i tried putting -vv to see the progess of the scan, and it seems it may actually be working, just incredibly slow

0.53% done in 2 minutes

it says about 4 hours remaining.. So now I know it has been working, but of course it shouldnt be this slow and it is regardless of the vpn server

ok.. so removing the -p- and only scanning 1000 ports seems to have fixed it. Theres still something wrong though because it shouldnt take 4 hours to scan all ports. I just tried attackbox and it finishes in like 10 seconds

it is possible the VPN config file under /root/Desktop/NetworkConfigs in the THM AttackBox is empty, hence you do not have a network adapter called exploitad when you do ip a
the work around is to download the VPN config file related to the Exploiting AD from the Access pages (check screenshot) and use it with openvpnv command
if you cannot ping the AD with that VPN file, regenerate and download again (make sure the second VPN file is different from the first one, for instance by doing md5sum)

the machines in rooms are not yours. Every machine has it's own intended access method depending on the room

If you look at that video, they're SSHing into the linux fundamentals machine - which is what is supposed to happen as the room instructs

The Nmap room you're doing there you're not supposed to 🙂

In fact, I don't think you're supposed to access the machine in that room at all (i.e. SSH/RDP/VNC, etc) aside from nmapping

Maybe you're not supposed to access it (in terms of logging into it) at all - the room is about Nmap. Nmap is used to probe the machine for the services and ports exposed, using your own machine on the VPN, or the AttackBox) Perhaps that's all you need to do for this machine - not SSH into it

But there will be some rooms that you do need to do the above - again - it's very room dependant. Read through the task carefully. If it's a walkthrough it will tell you the credentials or provide access for you. For challenges, part of the challenge is figuring that out yourself 🙂

For walkthrough rooms, if you need to login to machine itself (I.e. SSH/RDP/VNC), yes - most of them will give you direct access in the browser. Otherwise, you may need to visit the webserver, etc 🙂

but again that would be instructed within the tasks for a walkthrough room. All the info to access it will be given there

The walkthrough room will give you instructions as to how you need to access it, and/or provide access directly (i.e. in the browser).

That maybe SSH/VNC/RDP or a webserver, it's all dependant on what the room is about 🙂

For challenges, of course, there'll be limited instruction - figuring out what part of it you need to access is usually part of the challenge 🙂
