It's not safer, the danger is still there as you're downloading a file anyway.

However the installer ISO you're doing the full set up (username, disk size etc) where as the pre-built image you're just downloading, importing and going.

hey, having a lot of trouble setting up my openvpn on my windows 11 host. I get the error "TLS Error: TLS key negotiation failed to occur within 60 seconds (check your network connectivity)"

This is what I've tried:

• Switched servers and re-downloaded the configurations
• Tried it on host windows 11 and in a parrot vm
• Allowed openvpn.exe through my firewall
• Turned off my firewall

• Check whether the vpn profile is set such that it accesses a server location close to your region(this may tackle your problems with speed).
• Are you running the openvpn as su?
• Have you tried refreshing the profile?
• Are there any DNS's added that may be restricting/hindering with your access?

But I would recommend learning python at least, because it's very useful to make exploits or some enumeration tools if none of the provided tools fit your case

I'm using Kali on VMWare connected to the THM network but when doing rooms I'm never actually connect to the room itself and it always shows disconnected. I don't know what i'm doing wrong exactly but when i'm using openvpn inside a kali VM, THM see me as "disconnected" on the "Access Machines" logo and in my VM, it show me an IP address in "10.10.x.x" and i can ping "10.10.10.10".
An other things is that i can't attack the "tests machine" in the learnings paths

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry to disturb you on a weekend but I need some help with the AttackBox. Since Thursday morning I haven't been able to use it. When I click on the "Start AttackBox" button I can see my AttackBox powering up on the right. However, once the 120 seconds pass it seems to load indefinitely. I've tried waiting to see if it would eventually render something but even after waiting for the whole 2 hours it still only shows the three dots moving from left to right.

Since Thursday, I've tried to :

• Terminating and restarting the AttackBox ( and then wait for 30m to see if it would do something ).
• Verifying that I'm still considered as a subscriber ( it seems to be the case ).
• Starting the AttackBox from other rooms (and enrolling in other paths to see if it was because of my current path, it first started in Network Services 2 in the Complete Beginner Path).
• Using different browsers (Firefox and Brave, normally i use Chrome).
• Logging out and logging back into my account and then launching the AttackBox again.
• Going into full screen mode.
• Deleting and reinstalling Chrome witout any extensions (i was thinking that my plugins like adblock / ublock were interfering with it ).

i don't know what to do to make it work again so if one of you ever encountered a similar issue could you please tell me what i need to do ?

I'm reposting my issue with the AttackBox that i wrote last Saturday, if someone has an idea of what i need to do i would be grateful. I have also added what Scrubz asked me to do on Saturday :

Since Thursday morning when I click on the "Start AttackBox" button I can see my AttackBox powering up on the right but once the 120 seconds pass it seems to load indefinitely. I've tried to wait for a bit, to see if it would eventually render something but even after waiting for the whole 2 hours it still only shows the three dots moving from left to right.

Since Thursday, I've tried to :

Terminating and restarting the AttackBox ( and then wait for 30m to see if it would do something ).
Verifying that I'm still considered as a subscriber ( it seems to be the case ).
Starting the AttackBox from other rooms (and enrolling in other paths to see if it was because of my current path, it first started in Network Services 2 in the Complete Beginner Path).
Using different browsers (Firefox and Brave, normally i use Chrome).
Logging out and logging back into my account and then launching the AttackBox again.
Going into full screen mode.
Deleting and reinstalling Chrome without any extensions (i was thinking that my plugins like adblock / ublock were interfering with it ).

Help received on Saturday 6th of July :
Scrubz : see if set clock is synchronized ( clicked on synchronise now button )
Scrubz : Asking if I was a subscriber ( yes, since the 20th of June )

If you are still having issues after taking all those steps, it's probably time to reach out to support. So yeah maybe they can help you. Just out of curiosity are you running a firewall on your network that may be blocking the attackbox?

The only firewall i have ( if not the windows one ) would be with my Kaspersky Antivirus, but i never had a problem since i started on June so i don't really know if it's really what caused this issue

If it has any sort of web protection, it may be blocking it. Also, running two firewalls is not recommended, if you're running both Kaspersky and Windows Firewalls. That can cause issues. Do you have any browser extensions? Have you tried clearing the cache of your browser? I know you said you reinstalled, but sometimes things can get added back through Google login. Have you tried opening TryHackMe in an incognito/private session?

I will try shutting down Kaspersky completely, i didn't think about it since it worked fine for the first few weeks but great idea, for the extensions with full access i currently have : Dark Reader - Kaspersky Protection - React Dev Tools - uBlock Origin - Web Developper and Snap Color Picker ( i forgot to write it but i tried launching the AttackBox without Kaspersky protection and uBlock but maybe if i shutdown Kaspersky completely AND delete/close the extension it will work, I will try that ), for the cache i didn't try since it didn't work any better with completely new "fresh" browsers like Brave and Firefox that I installed just to test if the AttackBox would also load indefinitely. And for incognito/private i also didn't try, i'll come back to tell you if one of these things worked, Thanks for your help !

Having trouble connecting with VPN. I am attempting to connect to adenumeration on arch linux using openvpn v2.6.10. I was able to connect to breachingad earlier, so I am not sure why adenumeration is not working.

In "access" tab on my profile I changed to the network adenumeration and downloaded the ovpn file. I then ran sudo openvpn username-adenumeration.ovpn. I get the following error

I then tried to change server location back and forth and redownloaded, but still got an error. Next I checked my system time to be correct.

I'm going to hazard a guess here, but there may be a config item that calls for the use of TUN but the system is using TAP instead, or vice versa.

They operate on different network layers.

In this case, you're "connected" but not actually. Routes need to be in place in order for the device to know where to send the traffic.

It seems like that China has blocked the OpenVPN udp connection. But I have tested the OpenVPN for HackTheBox, what they offer is a profile based on TCP 443 port, and it works.

HackTheBox provides both UDP 1337 and TCP 443 options to connect to OpenVPN. Can TryHackMe offer the same measures in the future? This is really important for players from China.

can anyone give me the password or a workaround for that?

it says the login keyring did not get unlocked when logging into the computer

i've tried with xfreerdp as well however for some reason i can't connect with that because it always get's closed by the peer due to some SSL error

Hi guys,

I'm new to TryHackMe and discord so could really do with your help, as I'm stuck.

I need to upload a screenshot to show you my problem, but I can't do that. There is no option when I press the "+" sign. just sort cuts.

Someone suggested that I need to verify my account for it to work. I have verified my account via email and phone. They then said that I need a token and I've searched online but there is no place where I can locate the token.

So my problem is:

(1) I need help with one of the rooms but I need to upload a screenshot here to show you.
(2) How do I upload the screenshot in the first place.

I would appreciate any help because i have been stuck for days and can't get pass.

i would recomend openvpn tbh

The attackbox is a little slow, this is because it consumes resources. With openvpn you provide your own resources, therefore you can set your hardware how you like it.

Seem to be having issues with this room in the SOC Level 1 path Snort Challenge - The Basics Tasks 2 and Task 3 are not accepting my answers. Task 2 it is saying my answers are incorrect for questions 2, 3, 4 and in Task 3 same issue for the first question. I followed all the steps correctly and its not accepting them. There an issue with that room?

bc for the enumerating AD room it says 9 days of access left

and that doesn't really make sense since if the reason was an error in my account being regarded premium then my access should be already gone

it makes you auto leave the room after that amount of days pass... it is for network rooms only... it does this to lower the amount of resources tryhackme needs to get for the networks... you can just rejoin the room.. you will not lose any of the answered questions
